2020 Presidential Election: Biden v. Trump

I can't believe Dems or Dem PACs haven't already flooded every battleground and nearly battleground state with ads about Trump calling the deaths of innocent Americans his "Badge of Honor". In the thirteen presidential elections, I've been able to vote in, I've never seen a more devastating statement by a candidate. This is so easy.

Once again, Dems are showing how fucking weak they are.

A moment's reflection shows that the open letter, along with Abidor's article endorsing it, is an admission of defeat by those who realize they have no way to mobilize the approximately 100 million eligible American voters who decide it is not worth their time to cast a ballot. Instead, these defeated veterans of a bygone struggle blame a few thousand young people who refuse to legitimate a system that rules out the life-saving policy changes they have been patiently and painstakingly advocating.

This is an evergreen take for all the liberals on here whining about people not supporting Biden.

Paid media vs. earned media.

Why would you pay millions of dollars to run ads across the country for something Trump said two days ago when media outlets are covering the story for free right now?

They'll probably use it in a campaign ad later.

presidential campaign ads seem kind of pointless right now

or in general. who hasn't made up their mind yet?

I'd wager it's less about persuading people to vote for a certain candidate and more about motivating them to vote when the time comes.

true. but to that end, is money spent now a waste since primaries are over(?) and we have a long way til November?

It's a bit about both. The few people who are up for grabs could be influenced by such statements.

Plus, the Dems need to make voting a matter of life and death. They need to go old school and have precinct managers taking people to the polls. They should be going balls to the walls in minority communities. Dems should try to get record turnout in minority communities.

Who knows. Lotta people still sitting at home right now with the TV on in the background. There's never really a bad time to drop campaign ads - just better times - and you can only run so many ads in the final stretch.

lol remember wisconsin are we not doing phrasing anymore?

And Democrats literally risked their lives to vote.

So how does not voting for Biden bring change? I need to see the math on that. And please start with all the wonderful changes that have come from not voting for Hillary.

Instead of answering that, I'll ask a different question I don't know the answer to:

Does Biden have a better plan for re-starting America than Trump?

I mean come on, pretty much any plan is going to be better than a Trump grifter plan. Hell having no plan is better than a Trump plan and would do less damage.

I agree, and I think I agree with the Biden lay low plan. But it's not like, broad scale social safety net unemployment relief, healthcare, etc., right? Just testing and contact tracing and more support for states? Even that would be something worth advertising a bit more, right?

Any attempt to draw a false equivalence between Biden and Trump (or Democrats and Republicans overall) even for rhetorical purposes ignores the vast amount of damage Trump and the Republicans are doing, not to mention the basics of party politics.

What is false? They're running for the same job? Just asking a question about Biden's plan to re-open America.
