F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

you can post whatever, there's plenty of video evidence showing police attacking peaceful protests and innocent bystanders all over the fucking country that are completely unrelated to looting. People didn't get their houses tear gassed for looting. If you want to keep posting about the shit going down in your city, be my guest - I appreciate the perspective, but you're speaking ignorantly about alot of the other protests that you're clearly less aware of

Yes, there are millions of protestors out on the streets and there's about 15 or 20 bad videos of police going too far. These protestors are sitting there yelling at people who aren't used to having their authority questioned. I also imagine plenty of cops are authoritative shitheads. If someone was yelling at me in my face all day every day, I'd probably act out as well. A few of the more egregious cases have already cost people their jobs, like in Atlanta. I've also seen a few hundred videos of looting and destruction.

Here, it's mostly people who are out after curfew, but I haven't seen too many bad videos of police in LA.

If you're having a peaceful protest right now while there's a global pandemic, not only are you enabling the looting going on, you're probably helping contribute to kill another couple hundred thousand people from COVID. Get out of the damn streets until the looting dies down a bit and maybe we aren't in the middle of a pandemic.

Hey guys, the looting is going to really piss off those people who got really pissed off about *checks notes* a guy kneeling before a football game. We need to care more about looting than murder so the police don't use looting as an excuse to murder even though they don't need an excuse because they almost always get away with it.

The looting is going to piss off anyone with a brain. Anyone with a brain is also going to not care about an NFL player kneeling during the anthem.

Ferguson elected their first black and first woman mayor. She's a 40 year resident who went to school at UMSL.

67.4% of the population of Ferguson is black.

In this country, it's probably unreasonable to expect a community to accept a police force that doesn't have a similar racial makeup of the population it serves. I don't see why this isn't just enacted, do you think this would help solve most of the issues along with an independent review board to review complaints to avoid the ridiculousness of the coroners report on Floyd ?

One problem is being a cop just isn’t an appealing job for many black people for obvious reasons.

Why would anyone be shocked if people violate a curfew in a riot that they eventually get forcibly removed?

Why not just let them stand there peacefully?

Richmond had their largest protest last night, and it went very well. People hopped out of their homes to join as the protestors yelled "walk with us". Police stayed the hell out of the way of the march, even though they were in other parts of the city. No reports of damage or looting. Those last two sentences are related, IMO.

Louisville cop who killed David McAtee identified.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...cer-shooting-had-mocked-protester/5316236002/

A police officer involved in the fatal shooting of West End business owner David McAtee had celebrated earlier on Facebook when a protester was shot by pepper balls.

Officer Katie Crews, who was placed on administrative reassignment Monday in the fatal shooting, posted a Courier Journal photo of a protester across from her and said, "I hope the pepper balls that she got lit up with a little later on hurt."

Pleasantly surprised that they didn't just keep covering for each other.

Bad stuff happened last night in Charlotte, peaceful protestors were trapped and sprayed with pepper spray by CMPD. Charlotte also doesn't have a curfew right now.

Seriously? Greensboro has one.

But Charlotte does have a black mayor, black police chief, black deputy police chief, and majority black city council (including a guy who was elected solely because of his involvement in the last protest/riots) who fund and control CMPD. And CMPD itself is roughly 40-50% minority and generally matches the racial makeup of the city. So who is calling the shots on the police handling of the protesters? This is one of the most nonsensical situations I have ever seen, all the way around.

15 or 20?

lots of videos going around last night of Asheville PD stabbing tons of water bottles at the medic tent right at the start of the 8pm curfew.

It’s amazing to me that this is so hard for otherwise intelligent people to understand.

It’s a pretty thin argument. 6 ATL police were charge with assault yesterday for dragging two black students out of their car using a tazer while the students were trying to leave the protests.
