Better Call Saul, The Mafia Game. Indies Win! Gooner, GAT and Duff

I want to thank everyone for playing and to most of you for your patience. I want to especially thank GM for rescuing me is my time of desperation. She consistently bailed me out. Not sure the game gets finished without her. I will have a complete Mea Culpa down the road but first a few fuck ups that might be fun to discuss

Night 5 - this was the night juice got hit. Jman had a vig hit that he put in on townie and both cops would have been gone. BYM was often left to his own devices in chat. I think they had a name for the RB that was a decent choice (can't remember who but it might have been GAT) but then BYM got a wild hair and asked about RBing jman. Nobody was around to answer and he decided to go with it, saving Townie in the process.

Day 6 - Saul had been searching for Kim forever (he already found mike) and Saul's path to Kim was much easier than Kim's path to Saul. So by D6, gooner has it narrowed to D14 or duff and for some reason was convinced it was D14. He pushed a run on Kim, forcing the reveal and then dickstepped when he confirmed her role. Of course, at the time, he was a civ and so was she.

Night 6 was a clusterfuck. Opened the Saul/Kim chat. toogs was discovered by Mike and opened that line and townie (the king of the RNG) gifted numbers some money. For a vanilla civ, I think think numbers led all players for number of PMs in my inbox. I swear every time I turned around I had 3 more PMs that night. So I was frazzled. Numbers and Boston had both requested new IDs. I couldn't reach Da til that night. Boston recinded his request. Numbers didn't. After 2 hours of night time and trying to give numbers a chance to back out (his inbox was full), I just said fuck it and wrote the result.

I didn't go back to my script to confirm numbers role and wrote up the Mrs. Nguyen thing, which I had fun with. Then Boston PMs me to say that he thought he backed out in time. I tell him he did. He says, but I'm Mrs. Nguyen. Fuck. Luckily I was able to just swap his role and numbers role as both were vanilla civs at that point and neither had claimed. Numbers was getting a new ID anyway. So that was a big fuck up by me that most didn't know about but luckily didn't impact the game. (TY to QT and GM for trying to get to numbers for me thru posrep)

I also forgot to silence townie that night which I also think didn't wind up influencing the game. Sorry gooner.

I mentioned it in deadchat but I think that there should've been some reference to the $$$ component in the ruleset so it wasn't a completely closed setup on that front in addition to nights being set longer so people with vanilla roles who generally wouldn't be looking for PMs would know there were different night mechanics.

Again I want to reiterate that this is like the infinitieth game in a row where people said my tone was "off" and I've been almost 50/50 maf/civ since we came back so can we just all agree that this is how I sound? k thx.

haha i think duff said in deadchat that my civ special game is exactly the same as my maf game and that seems good?

the problem is, as someone who has mostly styled my game after Da (not taking notes, posting a lot, letting other people do the heavy lifting but applying logic to it), i kinda rely a lot on tone, and that can really mislead you

You will not want to go back and read through the chatzy. That was one of probably 4 or 5 times a similar thing happened.

Full disclosure: I only lied about what i was sending toogs once. In the first or second message i added "Gooner and Duff need to live".

You having the toogs power and being a traitor is kinda lame. Potentially could have taken away a lot more from us through that. I hadn’t even thought about that until now.

i was just fucking with you too, i hadn't even voted for you, as you mentioned later when i claimed to lead a charge on you, until after they did

you responded so angrily i wasn't sure what to do, but i never wasted an investigation on you because you tied yourself to duff

which again nobody seemed to care about and i don't know why

The gooner thing came up a few times in our chatzy. i just kept kicking the can down the road on that and diverting attention elsewhere.

lol how were civs ever supposed to have a chance in this game, everything went right for civs, fuckups went in town's favor (it seems) and we still got PLOWED

I remember last night I suggested Gooner as indy, your response was literally “Hmmmm”, and then I went to do ISOs for you. Lol God damn it.

Thank you to parlay and goalie for a unique game. You both did an awesome job. ♥️

Thanks to Ph, Sd3, Da, Manning, and everyone for keeping me entertained in deadchat.

Thanks to toogs and crew for killing me.

Thanks to Dv7 for knowing Steven Gerrard is good at soccer.

Thanks to townie and juice for being civ MVPs and keeping the slaughter to a respectable level.

Good luck next game.

Honestly i know the outcome looks wildly unbalanced but a lot went right for mafs/indy to get there.

How did Tejas become not aligned with the Indy anymore? Was that a choice and how does that work with him being still alive until Gooner vigged him?

I think the game was great. BUT, almost everything went right from the civ standpoint and we still got the floor wiped. Some of it was bad civ play, but it was a tough sled. It was not terribly unbalanced, I think a couple of things could have been tweaked, but if Juice didnt find Townie night 1 and if they didnt find 5 mafia, it would have been an easy mafia roll.

Yeah sorry about the PM situation. I had cleared my inbox but hadn't cleared my sent and apparently it was full just from sent messages - I have now cleared everything so it's free. Since I wasn't around that night at all since I was at a rally I wasn't going to respond regardless but then when I saw day started and I didn't have any PMs (and on phone I don't see rep) I didn't know anything was up until I got back to a computer.

And again, thanks for running, but yeah the reason I sent so many PMs was that the language in the police cash writeup didn't explain much of anything that was helpful in making an informed decision so it was like trying to play let's make a deal without having any insight into what I was getting other than there may have been protection involved.

There was no Mrs Nyugen in the game for you to kill. That player was gone. Numbers bought a new identity which basically was a jailer type role removing him from the game and blocking your hit.

How did that mechanic work? Maybe I missed it in someone's writeup

Given what you say, I should have gotten my vig back. 100%

Never even considered a traitor that could win with Saul on our team. Well done Gat. Also fuck you

Actually, if gat had decided to vote for Gooner, gooner had a 1 day lynch immunity. Then he had a vig at night. The vig and your hits would have crossed and left GAt as the last man standing. Per his role, when the rest of the Frings are done, Mike joins saul's chat and is an indy

If you run this game 10 more times I would wager every single other time there would be multiple crosshits. To have a 30 player, 2 mafia + indy team game and not have a single cross hit is almost a statistical impossibility.

I got money from someone (I guess now townie) who got to pick who to gift to. The person could then decide whether or not they wanted to spend money for a new ID which I think also got you a protection the night/day you requested it (so couldn't be lynched during day or hit at night if it was night). At which point you had to request it in enough time to then give Da the ability to accept or deny the request for a new ID which if he accepted you then got.

I think that's how it worked - let me know if I missed anything Parlay.

i do echo those d14 words

well done gat. also fuck you

Congrats to whoever ended up being the winner. Well played by that faction.

Thanks a bunch parlay, lot of cool roles and dynamics.

Kind of you to say. I was so happy with your role when I wrote it but, in hindsight, the concept was just too much and too confusing. I wrote that role as a fanboi of the show not really considering the impact on people that were unfamiliar. I also didn't think it out well prior. More on that in my mea culpa

I feel honored. Pretty sure you have done it better than me recently.

There was SO MUCH going on in this game. I'm not sure how anyone was able to keep track of what was going on. Players, mods, people reading along, anybody.

Yeah, I was basically Mallarky on Top Chef. I definitely tried to use every ingredient and needed editing.

I was all about keeping both win conditions alive as long as i could.

In the end i seriously consider Maf2 just as much winners as the Indys. I think i only posted this in our chatzy right when i came clean but i legit asked Parlay if we could all win.

I picked Gooner because its always more fun when Indys win.

ooh can I have this immunity too
