Never been to Santiago, but would love to go some day.

After our February trip to Argentina, we started mapping a plan to move to BA for 4-6 weeks (looking at apartments, crunching the numbers, arrangements for the kids, etc.). COVID has obviously put that on hold, but I'd still like to do it one day. I don't know if an international work opportunity will ever present itself so the idea was to move down there and work remotely. If I ever hit the lotto, I'd buy a place in Patagonia / Mendoza and live there part time.

How do you get to Patagonia? From Charlotte, when I looked previously, it was at least 3 flights. Maybe 4.

Would also like to go to Mendoza. Our ski destination in the Andes, Portillo, was like 2 miles from the Argentinian border with tons of trucks going over the mountains to Mendoza. The bottom-most ski lift/slope actually went over the highway at one point.

Was in Patagonia in Feb/March (right before the world shut down)
AVL to ATL to EZE
Transfer from EZE to the Region Airport in B.A and then fly to San Martin de Los Andes (there are a number of airports in Patagonia obviously, but typically you'll fly ex the regional airport to most domestic places, although sometimes you can fly to them from EZE)
So from Asheville, it was 3 flights and 1 airport change

After arrival in Buenos Aires, we spent the night and flew the next day to Bariloche via regional carrier.

ETA: I misspoke. We flew into EZE from the states and used AEP (domestic airport) in BA to get to Bariloche.

Those hopper flights sketchy at all? Small/budget airlines in other parts of the world don't exactly thrill me.

The safety ratings for Aerolinas Argentina and LAN are pretty good, I think. The planes were all clean (more so than US Domestic) and service was efficient, even if not super friendly. The flight into Bariloche was a little rough due to weather, but didn't ever feel unsafe.

My wife has recently gotten into avocado toast. So I pan-fried a couple of our our chickens’ eggs this morning and slapped them on top of some avocado with some Cherokee Purple slices from the garden, and threw a few slices of fried prosciutto on top. Those goddamn millennials are onto something.

Please, stop. I can only get so erect.

Mine too tbh. They got too leggy too fast and never really set a ton of fruit before the searing heat got here. I still get a couple ripening on occasion but the birds get to them as soon as some color appears.

my tomatoes have also sucked this year. Got just a few worth picking.

My wife is gung ho on a full on garden at the new house. Her mom will be helping (she has a thriving garden) and the new back yard is a half acre with good sun, so seems very possible. However, whenever we've tried to grow potted tomatoes/cucumbers previously, we end up with like 5 per plant for an entire season and then they die. No where near worth the money/effort. I'm expecting minimal results and will be pleasantly surprised if she can come close to her mom's veggie haul (too many to eat, gives lots away).

It's been an exceptional year for us, minus a little deer damage. Canned tons of salsa and pasta sauce, and pickled peppers, cukes, squash, and zucchini. I've never had squash produce like they did this year. Side note, I'm tired of squash.

Same here. We got a late start on planting, but they seemed to do really well for the first 45 days or so and then they stopped growing and didn't fruit hardly at all. They still seem green and healthy, just no additional growth and no fruit.

We had a great garden a few years ago but we go out of town so much in the summer that we don't really have time to keep up with it. We bought a few tomato polants this year at the farmers market and grew them out of pots. The plants grew like crazy and we got one tomato that was stolen by a varmint before it got ripe. We've got two on the vine right now.

Why does porn have such a stigma ? it's just watching somebody do something. Same as sports imo.

If you watch six hours of football on a Saturday you're considered a big fan, or at the very worst, lazy.

If you watch six hours of porn you're considered a pervert.

I've got a couple Brad's Atomic Grape tomatoes from the garden that I haven't tried yet

never had those before
