F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

It feels like there aren’t any good gun advocates because what do you need to advocate for? Easier access to guns? More guns? Like shit we have so many guns and the easiest access anywhere. I suppose a good gun advocate is someone that wants more gun responsibility and restriction but then they won’t really be labeled as a gun advocate, fairly or not.

I'm moving closer and closer to buying a gun and taking out a bunch of cash before Nov. 3rd. I don't see how this peacefully resolves itself.

I used to advocate for only owning a shotgun for home defense purposes, but with the inevitable collapse of society you're probably gonna wanna go ahead and buy a rifle as well in the event that you need to hunt for food. Bolt action 30-06 would probably be a good fit for you.

Outside of the 17 year old psychopath most of the armed militia is just cosplay. There’s some element of feeling good about their pathetic lives by strapping on their XXL vest, army surplus supplies and heading out as protectors of the night. Yet, they don’t do shit because as you can see people still march, still light fires, still riot, still do whatever they want. They get to visually intimidate people, mostly minorities, and feel good about themselves, a win win in the alt right white supremacy playbook.

Don’t forget the ones who are shooting and killing cops.

We have more guns than people? Yikes.

You obviously don't live in a rural area.

How many posters own guns? And how many?

I don't really like guns, don't hunt, and I still have 4. A couple pistols that were left to me, a bolt action Ruger 308 that I use for coyotes, and a Remington 870 tack shotgun that my wife thinks will protect us in the insignificant chance of a home invasion. I'd be very, very glad to get rid of all of them if it meant that guns were harder to access in our country.

or any non-urban area.

I have a 30-06 because I hunt occasionally. I sold my handgun last year.

Grew up with shooting .22s and .22 mags in my backyard to suppress the groundhog invasion.

I did not grow up with gun people, other than we owned guns. "Gun Nuts" weren't really a thing until the mid-00s, except as a punchline (like the preppers in Tremors)

I have a 9MM Glock and a Remington 1187. I’d anticipate getting a hunting rifle at some point and probably another Glock.

I don’t think I’ve gone shooting in almost a year.

don't have a gun, have no desire to ever own one. only ones I've ever shot were .22s at camp.

I have a .22 and a Remington 870, but unless you know me very well IRL you wouldn't know about it.

I have no desire to own a handgun.

Maybe I should have said "gun nuts" instead of "gun people". That's who I meant.

Anyone who thinks we need more gun rights is a trash person.

Sorry should have said that originally.

I am a gun owner that would be ecstatic with the repealing of the 2nd amendment fwiw.

The thing is that we don't have to repeal the 2nd amendment, we can just roll it back to its original intention and allow anyone to own non-automatic weapons. Because that's all they had back in the 1780's.

Or we could get super constructionist and force anybody who owns a weapon to be a member of a "well regulated militia". Meaning you have to report to state militia meeting every month or two, take gun safety classes, and be screened for mental health. If you refuse to join the "well regulated militia" then you lose the right to bear arms.
