The 2020-21 College Football Thread: Alabama Unleashes Bold Familiar Flavor on CFB !!

IMO, Clemson is by far the best team in the country.

Ohio State might be able to compete, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Bama and UGA are both lacking a QB that can win a natty this year.
Quite the hot take right here.

I don’t think Bama can beat Clemson with Mac Jones at QB. That’s all I’m saying.

He played a nice 2H last night but missed on a ton of throws in the 1H and was lucky he didn’t turn it over more.

I agree, Bama’s defense is not as good and while they may have as good skill as Clemson on the offense, Lawrence is the difference maker.

If UNC loses to State next week, and they very well might, they may just implode and collapse and won't have to worry about playing Clemson. Of course, the same can be said of State. That matchup next week will probably ruin the entire season for the team that loses.

I’m for State in this one. They might be ranked later today and they definitely will be if they are 5-1 after next weekend. Our only 2 losses would be to #1 Clemson and a ranked State team. If we can beat VT next week (tough game) we’ll be in decent shape.

If we run the table, we have a shot at making the ACCCG. I think can beat or lose to any team in the conference. ND is the hardest opponent. Clemson will give ND their first loss. We can give them the second. State needs to lose two and that’s quite possible with Leary out. We play the other 1 loss teams.

I know it’s crazy talk and getting there would get us killed by Clemson. But there is still a shot.

That would still be a great season.

Really strange that they jumped so much in the polls after beating an inconsistent VT team.

The lobbying for a high ranking is exceptional now that MACK IS BACK.

It’s hard not to sound like a conspiracy theorist about UNC, but they got a suspiciously high ranking based on essentially nothing after being gifted the easiest schedule in the conference and avoiding Clemson and ND. Their loss last night made me almost as happy as our win.

UNC losing to Florida State in football is not an upset.

Screw Mack and his bandwagon junk.

One of my buddies texted the group chat this morning, “I’m not sure if I’m more upset that UNC was ranked 5 or FSU now has a Top 5 win.”

LOL. That’s true.

I don't care that F$U got a "Top-5" win. They've had plenty of those in their history and it's not like they will use this to radically change the trajectory of their recruiting. I would have been bummed if someone like NCSU had gotten such a win.

I just love that as soon as Carolina sniffed this artificial and arbritrary Covid-driven Top-5 (there's no Big Ten!), they not only got embarrassed by getting destroyed, they also got teased by coming up just short.

I've read that Mack is a popular coach among his peers, and of course the national sports media loves him, as he worked for ESPN for a number of years. So I do think he (and by extension UNC) got a lot of media hype that they clearly didn't deserve. If they lose to State next Saturday, their entire season may implode.

That would be a good result. Go State!

I think we would have beaten State had Leary started and played the whole game against us. We have trouble against mobile qbs.
