Official Election Month Thread: COUP falls short, nothing to see here

Yeah just a saw a tweet from a source in Georgia who said the margin could be as small as 1k votes. Gonna be close but I think Biden's got good chances.

LOL...stealing votes from NEW YORK?

that lady seems legit insane.

Biden is behind 77K. Cunningham is behind 97K. I think about 275K remaining. Nate was saying like maybe a 15% chance Biden gets it, so an even longer shot for Cunningham.

It would have to be an outrageous blue wave of ballots for Cunningham to have a chance. I think Biden ends up short by about the margin he's up in Wisconsin, ~0.5-0.7%, which means Cunningham is 1-2 points out.

For clarity, these aren't people I know this is a journalist citing sources from inside Georgia lol

Friend who knows somebody in the Ga elections dept. says the expectation is for biden to finish up 1-2K votes ahead.

Almost 5 million votes cast in GA. Crazy to think the final margin might be as scant as 1,000. That's the same as a contest in a municipality with 50,000 voters coming down to a single vote.

I don't think the outstanding ballot number in NC is 100% correct either as actual votes. I thought from what I heard on the news that number represents the amount of absentee ballots requested and sent to voters who haven't mailed it back. So all of those may not come back in. Not sure how the NC rules work around getting an absentee but deciding to vote in person instead of mailing it.

It has been confusing getting a number on what is actually left. Any idea where the 275K comes from? From the official election site it show all election day and pre-election mailing votes counted and at most 116,200 mail in ballots still eligible to arrive in the next week and 40,766 provisional. If those numbers (156,966) are right Biden would need like 75% to even it up.

Wasn't FL in 2000 about 4-500 votes?

And how many did Nader have? [stop, must not go down that road again]

You NCers just need to suck it up and accept that GA beat you to being a good state.

The election recount was stopped when Bush was up 537.

I get annoyed at some of the reporting that is like "X ballots came in: Y to Biden, Z to Trump; Trump's lead now down to N" with no context around how many outstanding ballots there are, the rate at which Biden is catching Trump, etc.
