As a member of the Traditions Council at Wake Forest, we are trying to organize a 5-K called the Deacon Chase. The only available weekend that we could find was Saturday, November 5th. We are planning on doing the event early in the morning as to not interfere with the game time, but is it possible our game will be scheduled for Noon? I know Notre Dame has their special TV contract and their games are usually in the afternoon. I also noticed that we are the only game left of their schedule that has a TBD, while all of the other game times are set. Can anyone give me a little bit of insight?

I really appreciate the help.

Notre Dame away games are not controlled by the NBC contract. They will be controlled by ABC/ESPN. They usually announce the gametime about two weeks ahead of time.

If I had to venture a guess this game will NOT be at 12. ND is a marquee team and WFU is playing very well. This could potentially change if Wake and ND lose a bunch of games. I think 3:30 or 7 is most likey.

I was thinking this morning that if we keep winning that our game with Notre Dame could receive big-time TV coverage. Notre Dame gets no matter how they're doing, but if we keep winning and get ranked I think the chances that our game against them could be the primetime ABC game that night. ESPN/ABC shows Notre Dame every chance they get since NBC has exclusive rights to their home games, so I would think Notre Dame vs. a ranked Wake Forest team would at least get a nighttime slot.

This will be a nationally televised game on ESPN/ABC. ABC did do a national broadcast for the ND-Pitt game at 12 so that is a possibility, but expect 7-8 PM on ESPN or ESPN2. 3:30 is reserved for regional coverage.

I guess a lot will depend on what we do the next two weeks. If we beat VT and Duke and go into the game 6-1, I'd say it is a near lock that we'll be on ESPN or ESPN2 that evening. Keep in mind that the game of the day on 11/5 is the LSU-Alabama game, which will almost certainly be in prime time on CBS.

We've got to play UNC on the road as wel, before we hook up with the Irish.

Should have clarified--I meant that when the time is set two weeks out we would be sitting at 6-1. The UNC game wouldn't have an effect as it would still have to be played.

My bad, good thinking!

CBS only gets one prime time SEC game/weekend per year, and that was used 2 weeks ago on Florida/Alabama. LSU/Alabama will be played at 3:30pm, just like most weeks. Even more of a reason for a Notre Dame/Wake game to be played at night, to avoid that big matchup (assuming both teams continue to win). They have played in regional ABC games before, however (vs. UNC in 2008 at 3:30pm is one example).

According to this link, ABC is not scheduled to have a CFB window at noon on 11/5, so doubtful this game ends up at noon.

If the kick is at 7, that will be the most epic tailgate at WFU ever. Followed closely by VT this weekend.

CBS gets two 8 PM games per year.

Tangential question - does anyone know if ND is bringing their band? And if so, are they going to stand on the sideline?

Notre Dame brought their full band when they went to Tennessee in 2004, and they performed at halftime, along with the UT band. Notre Dame's band did the coolest marching performance I have seen a band do--it was a rotating, circular, pinwheel-type routine. Very intricate, and very impressive.

Something like this?

Agreed. Going to be even better when we take the show on the road to South Bend next year. :D

No, they get two doubleheaders per year, the other DH involves a noon and a 3:30pm kick-off. Here is a link to a good breakdown of the SEC's TV coverage:

They have only had one 8pm kick-off for the last decade, at least.

Unless I missed it, nowhere in that article does it state that CBS is limited to one 8:00 game per season. I'm not saying that it's not true, it's just not in the article you linked.
