Official Duke's Mayo Bowl vs. Wisconsin Thread

Feel bad for Sam, a tough day. Congrats to Wisconsin.

This year was a write-off from the start. Proud of the team for fighting through what I'm sure was a pretty miserable season.

Lots of experience back next year so it has the potential to be special. If we stumble again, it will be fair to ask whether Clawson has gotten us as far as he can.

This game was an embarrassment to the ACC. This sorry Wake team just opted out. My question is why in the GD Hell do you accept a bowl invite if your going to play the whole game with a dildo in your mouth.

Wisconsin dropped their trophy and broke it already

I think it is fair to ask that question now. Failure is failure, as everyone else was dealing with the same issues Wake was. Bottom line was that this team consistently showed up looking unprepared, as the avalanche of mental mistakes over the course of the season would attest.

One day we will look good on ESPN again.

Nice 4-5 record for bizarro season. Seniors deserved better but at least they got to play some.

So with Roberson, Greene and Morin catching the ball next season, we really just need 1 more playmaking receiver and we are set.

We are obviously set at running back and O line.

Bingo. Start with our secondary in the Clemson game, or UNC or Louisville game. Then today we had a clue and then Hartman just went back to the pre-2001 Wake Forest days.

Williams showed a few flashes. Hope he can be that guy. Roberson way outplayed expectations this year. Very happy for him and thrilled to see him back.

I agree WR could be nice, real nice next year. RB key is Kenneth Walker, as he's well ahead of the others.

Gonna need to score a LOT of points unless we are bringing in some transfer DB's.

This year Donald Stewart, the grad transfer, hasn't been it. IMHO, he should be given his grad degree, a thank you, a handshake and sent on his way.

I hear you. I made up my mind at the start of the year that I wasn't going to get too bent out of shape whatever happened. Yes, other teams faced the same issues, although I'm not convinced everybody else adhered to the Covid protocols as rigorously as Wake did. But my approach kept me sane after the UNC loss, and is keeping my disappointment in check after today.

Interceptions and special team performance negated the ability of the offense to move the ball. The Wisconsin offense was given possession of football in Wake territory far too often and they capitalized. That's football. Wake gave it away and Wisconsin took it and made Wake pay.

Clawson bears some responsibility for this loss. Sam lost focus when Greene dropped the long pass in the first half. Went 0-6 the rest of the half and wasn't even close. He regained it for two series in the second half. He never looked at the coverage before throwing the first interception. I doubt he saw the coverage for the next three interceptions.

I think the offense probably could be improved to become a bit less predictable, but we have been top 20 in points and/or yards per game in three of the past four years
