KP Report: Miami at WF -- Saturday -- 2pm ACCN

We are becoming a bitch to scout for sure.

That's the damn truth. That's also the sign of a good coach...We aren't forcing 1 or 2 guys to score our points every night. Forbes shows that he's good at teaching players who they are. The guys are buying into "playing within themselves"...slowly but surely. Definitely not there yet, but their individual roles become clearer every game.

Couldn’t watch...just finally able to check...woohoo!

Go Deacs!

Appreciate the commentary here, gives me some feel for the game.

Yes. Unless Massoud is making his shot he needs to sit. Cannot take the ball to the rim or execute a pull up. Absolutely cannot or will not play defense.

Too slow and too weak. Hasn't improved muscle definition in 2 years.

I actually think Massoud’s defense has improved quite a bit from the first few games. He’s never going to have great lateral quickness, but he doesn’t look like he’s trying to move through sand anymore.

Always glad to get a win, but Miami is flat out terrible right now. The played pretty much zero defense and we were able to settle in and hit some open looks. Definitely like how we get contributions from different players each game.

Jalen, in particular, has really seemed to settle into his role. Carter obviously played well today, too... Glad to see it.

Really interested to see how we play @ND on Tuesday. They are talented on offense, but not gonna pressure us a ton on defense. Feels like a good matchup for us if we play with some energy. Would love to pick up a road win and continue the momentum.

Did sit most of second half, does play defense but is not very good at it yet. Won last Saturday's game for us. Glad he is one of scoring capable players.

Need to retire that phrase. College basketball was much better 20 years ago.

Forbes said it and yes our offense was better 20 yrs ago but goodness we looked like a pile of poo for the first part of the game. 0-9 with 3 blks.

Just watched the replay, without knowing if we won or lost.

- The team sticks with it. Looked terrible on offense early but just kept plugging along to keep it from getting out of hand.
- Yep Miami is bad/has limited players but I've seen this story for 10 years where we should take care of a team and lose by double digits.
- Carters freshman wall should come about May. Normally the freshman are on campus in the summer, practice with the team, play a full slate of pre-conf games then half the ACC season and THEN they hit the wall. I thought the announcers said it pretty well tonight, the kid is learning this level of hoops on the fly. He's going to struggle, have good games, bad games, great games but that's more about how the pandemic allowed him to start playing in the middle of the season.
- It's clear, at this point, that Coach Forbes knows what he's doing. He has a plan for offense and a plan for defense and he make the team execute those plans. No more BS about what happened in practice, paint touches, FT's or how we wear our socks, we have a coach that has more than a clue and can get his players to buy in and want to win for him.
- Finally we've played 9 conference games. It's clear that GT was an outlier (i.e. coming of 30+ days of nothing and only a game against Catabwa). The team has shown in 8 straight games that the believe in themselves and they refuse to quit. Of our 9 games we've played 7 of the current top 8 in the conference, so we have a bit easier schedule to end the season so we should be able to pick up a few more wins. @ND is big since I think we might be able to count the number of ACC road wins on one hand in the last 10 years.

This team is definitely improving, but it’s irregular. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. But still positive momentum. Also, we haven’t had a game yet where we’re firing on all cylinders. We’ve had numerous guys be the leading scorer......and then they do little the next game. Davien is about the only consistent one. We now know that many of the players are capable. They just need to do it more consistently.

This is much like golf. I know I can hit good shots and I do......but not consistently enough. Reduce the bad shots and your game improves.

Always happy to see us win. I'm especially happy for the players. That said, we take care of the ball better, we'll enjoy that feeling more often.

7 page game thread just shows how much damage bzzz, DM and Wellman did to this program. Just watched the presser for Miami and Pitt. Can't believe Forbes didn't mention 'paint touches' and FT's, what and idiot (joke/sarcasm).

I know it's hard after the last 10 years but it's time to load up the Forbes bandwagon. He's legit, has a plan and the team wants to play for him.

super excited for next season and how we close out this season

it’s refreshing to finally have a good coach and props to Currie for making the hire during a pandemic
