Impeachment: The Sequel

Let me get this straight. Republicans are crying about "cancel culture" for kicking Trump off social media for breaking the rules he agreed to live by, but it's not "cancel culture" to censure lifelong Republicans for voting their conscience and for the rule of law. Hmmmm... Got it!

Let's see what happens to those numbers when Trump is indicted in multiple jurisdictions.

The families of every cop injured or killed at the Capitol should be getting ready to sue Trump, Rudy, Don, Jr. and Mo Brooks . Remember, they don't have to get a unanimous verdict. Also, the level they have to reach is preponderance of evidence not beyond a reasonable doubt.

It must suck to be in Republican politics for 25-35 years (some miscellaneous "other") and right off the bat you're behind Donald freakin' Trump, JR.

Would the emperor have been convicted by the Senate had these many pending law suits been filed before the impeachment trial?

Sadly, we think not since the pub's fix would likely still have been in.

I keep hearing about DeSantis being the next President. That dude has to be one of the dumbest fucks on the planet.

Dems need to invoke the 14th to stop the old man from running again.

Due to the moronic DOJ position about prosecuting or suing a sitting POTUS, it wouldn't have been possible as is evidenced by being Person A in the Cohen Case.

We don't need the entire GOP or even a majority or plurality in 22 to take full control of the Senate and render Manchin powerless.

Well, it only took a month for Trump's numbers to recover. Congressional Pubs are delusional if they think Trump is too damaged to be the 2024 nominee. Pub voters are still 70-80% behind Trump. Sadly, I don't think the ensuing criminal charges and civil suits against Trump are going to affect his popularity in his party/cult.

DeSantis' whole schtick is cutting restrictions and owning the libs. The perfect Republican platform.

If an attempted fascist coup doesn't change those numbers, nothing will. Frankly, if anything I'm surprised his numbers aren't higher than they were before Jan. 6.

Nah, I think he has a ceiling, and he's hitting it. 58% of the country thinks he should not be able to run again. And if a lucid Biden were once again the Dem nominee, I'd feel pretty good about our chances in 2024. But that's not going to be the case in all likelihood. If we have a lingering recession and a nominee who doesn't enjoy the breadth of support that Biden has (even though that breadth was quite shallow), it's possible to once again lose the EC. Like Trump in 2016, Biden got to 306 barely squeaking by in AZ, WI and GA. Had those 3 gone the other way, it would have been 269-269 and losing. It is sad, but it's becoming evident that a Dem has to win the popular vote by at least 4% in order to win the EC.

I still don't think Trump runs if he's not about to go to jail. Staying out of jail was IMO the only reason he even ran for a second term-he certainly does not like the day-today effort of the job. Anything he puts out to the contrary at this early stage may just be some other type of grift.

Nah, he would have run even though he didn't like the job. Had he won, we would have no longer been a constitutional republic by 2024. And sure, he's grifting his cult followers, but if they want to blow their money, there ain't no law against it.

Likewise Mike Pence had to figure he was either going to ride coattails for 8 years and then have his own clear shot, or else the ticket loses in 2020 and Trump bows out, making the way for a Pence run. Instead he may have to run against the guy to whom he pledged himself. He probably should have considered that strange third options like this would be possible though, knowing Trump's ego.

Trump is the leading GOP candidate until he dies. After that Don Jr or maybe Ivanka takes the reigns. Republicans don’t want some beta who has been kissing Trump’s ass. They want a leader.
