Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

Hildreth with 2 pts, 5 reb in a 77-75 loss to Worcester.

One of the Americans for Worcester is Lamar Kimble, Bo Kimble’s son who finished his career at Louisville last season.

Terrell was better than Williamson. McKie was better than DuBose. As much of a headcase as Ari was. he's better than Mucius. The older big guys were better than the young ones. Antonio and Clark are about a wash.

You are talking about rankings of freshmen vs guys who have played years of college ball. Those rankings ended up being meaningless.

I’m a big McKie fan, but he put up numbers that year because we were fucking terrible.

None of those ranked guys ended up having good careers, especially the guys who transferred. JT and Ari sucked... Look it up. Chennault rode the bench at Nova. Derosiers was OK his senior year.

You must not remember how terrible that team was. Please look it up.

I did look it up. That year was Travis' weakest of his first three.

I know how bad that team was, but also the ACC was much, much stronger than it is this year.

if the squads had equally talented coaches, I'd take the 10-11 team.

You’ve lost your mind.

Any word lately on the Gortman kid out of Columbia?

SC has another Top 40 player in wing Julian Phillips. I wonder if we can both of them.

This may have been posted earlier about Gortman:

"Wake Forest: "That's pretty much family. Coach BJ [McKie] knows my whole family and he's from South Carolina and then coach [Steve] Forbes is a very energetic coach and I like him as a person too."

Frank Martin is in trouble at South Carolina, very disappointing few years since final 4 run. Martin has had very little success recruiting the top players from SC and we seem to be in highly invested in recruiting SC , especially Columbia area so it might be a problem for us if Martin gets fired and they hire a good recruiter. Keep an eye on that.

Martin has also had COVID twice, lost all his hair and lost a bunch of weight so there is speculation that he is not healthy and might step down for health reasons. One name gamecock fans are throwing out as possible replacement.... Wes Miller.

BJ McKie would be another name to watch as he is the one pulling the talent out of Columbia. However Frank probably still gets another 1-2 years though as Gamecocks can't eat his big buyout (reportedly 9 mil) as they just ate Muschamp's.

Probation will do that to a program. Final Four run was tainted.

Damn. I really don’t think Wake is far off AT ALL from being a middle of the pack ACC team. FSU is obliterating UVA rn. With the current talent we have now, it is a miracle how tough we’ve been against quality teams. Forbes is going to be a helluva coach, I think most people know that.

I’d love to see a strong finish. All the games left on the schedule are winnable (away in Cassell will be tough). Maybe pick up one or two in the tournament and there will be a lot of momentum going into 21-22.

I think a statement win at FSU would have helped a lot with recruiting, but if we can take care of business in 2 of the games against a Johnsonless Duke, State, and Clemson that will be a huge statement to recruits in the Carolinas. These next three games have the chance to make this season a success in the eyes of most fans given the expectations going in. Hoping the ACC tournament is played because that could be another chance for a nice win if we can get past the first game, and anything can happen in March especially with Ian DuBose back and in shape.

Speaking of strong finishes, didn’t UVA finish near the bottom of the ACC regular season back in the mid 70s, and then won the ACC tournament when only the winner went to the NCAAs? Think this is when they had Wally Walker and Gus Gerard. If I’m mis-remembering, let me know.

Such would result in an NIT bid.... if they have it.

I remember watching that game at Liberty Bell Racetrack. LOVED IT!!!

Wasn't Walker a Top 5 pick in the NBA draft?

1976 - they lost to DePaul in the NCAA's in Charlotte. I was there.

The miracle in Landover, first Tourney in DC, beat top 10 Terps and Heels to get the auto bid after being 4-8 ACC regular season.

Don't do it Wes. SC is a grave for basketball coaches.
