2021 Wake Forest Football Season

Tennessee just paid 800K or so to drop Army for Akron.

The founder was a pig. His son who ran the place for a while until he was run off is an even bigger pig. Plenty of backwards social policies for their students. They had a big hand in mobilizing evangelicals to get Trump in office (but they gotta stay tax exempt!). They hired the Baylor AD who had a big hand in all the sexual assault coverups with Art Briles. And they hired him only a couple of months after he resigned, so not some reformation project after he had years to reflect.

My wife is from Lynchburg. I’ve heard plenty of stuff from my in-laws and locals about how they strong arm their way around town.
 
And that’s just off the top of my head. Forgot to mention their complete Covid denial which of course led to hundreds of cases and the school to be locked down for weeks.

If “not liking” a place means I’m against all that and any reasonable individual should be as well, then sure I don’t like it. Are you ok with Wake being associated with an insitution that does these things? Does Liberty seem like a place that fits with our Pro Humanitate ethos?

I could make the same argument that you are making vis a vis Liberty that we should never play UNC Chapel Hill (and I even have a degree from that communist shithole). The fact of the matter is that you don't like Liberty because it does not align with your personal/political/religious (or absence thereof) views.

Now you are just whining.

You don't like Liberty because it is a conservative, evangelical Christian institution. You have every right to not to like it, or to not agree with its values or principles. But to say that it is an "abhorrent institution" and that Wake should never schedule it as an opponent in sports (because you don't like it) just makes you come off as foolish, petty and intolerant.
 
I believe Liberty’s “science” department had dinosaur fossils that were labeled as being 6,000 years old. That’s reason enough for me.
 
There are dozens of other programs we could play. There's no need to play a university that's been involved in so many scandals. Sex, embezzlement, extortion, whatever. It's unnecessary. Why not play one of the many programs that have no real drama and keep their noses clean?

I guess I'm foolish, petty and intolerant too, not that evangelical Christian institutions would know anything about that. But that's not why it's an abhorrent institution. Here's one of an infinite number of reasons why WFU should have absolutely nothing to do with it.
