2021 Wake Forest Football Season

This is probably the most excited I've been for a Wake football game in a really long time. Can't wait!

I bet our defense's atrocious last 3 games are not helping. People just expect with that poor defensive showing that we are likely to start losing games, and that we won't make it to the ACC championship. Pitt does not have this baggage. If we can show a half-way adequate defense today and next week, we might start getting more love. Right now the football gods just assume we won't last.

He had 2 TDs on 300 yards passing.

Sam had 5 TDs on nearly 500 yards passing plus another rushing TD.

What’s the worst loss a Heisman winner has on their resume?
 
Pitt’s baggage is only that they gave up 44 to Western Michigan and lost. Apparently their defense gets a mulligan.

The 1999 Wisconsin team (Ron Dayne) lost to a Cincy team that would go 3-8 that season and was in C-USA at the time. Fun fact, Jimbo Fisher was a first year OC for that Cincy team. That's the best (or worst) I've got.

Pitt was 15 point favorites in that game too. That game burned me on this parlay in Vegas last month, but totally worth that burn to have Wake sitting in the driver seat today & Pitt with an asterisk.
 
With Iowa getting destroyed and someone losing this UM/MSU game it could only take one more top 12 loss (ole miss or UK?) for Deacs to get first ever top 10 if we impress today…..

Our defense gave up 34 points to a Louisville team that scored 42 and 31 the two weeks before and 33 and 28 the next two weeks.

Our defense gave up 34 points in regulation to a Cuse team that scored 30 the week before, 14 vs. Clemson, but 41 against VT the next week.

The 56 to Army is more of an outlier than a trend. I think we just have an average defense that can occasionally make key plays.

Our defense gave up 17 to one of the best offenses in the conference and 14 to a team that is going to surprise a few people going forward.

This. And UVA game, the D held them pretty well for 3 quarters until garbage time. Mobile QBs with a strong running game seem to be a weakness, but we do force a lot of turnovers.
 
No matter what u think of our D the sheer efficiency and potency of Sam and this O deserve a top 10 ranking.

Our defense gave up 0 until a garbage time TD to a team that scored 0 in its last game and 7 in the road game before that.

Average D that can make some plays.
 
One thing I noticed walking around the stands is there aren’t that many Hartman jerseys worn by fans, Skinner is still the most popular jersey, I think that changes soon
