I watched Garfield as a kid and read the comic strip but I don’t remember what was funny about it.

i did not know godparents were really a thing. i certainly didn't have any and i do not believe my brother and his wife have selected any either? unless they did and it was not me which is rude!!

There is a pretty famous movie called The Godfather and it’s got a pretty famous scene involving a baptism. You should check it out.

i mean, it is a 50 year old movie, albeit a famous one. the baptism scene is at the very end

i know when i think of The Godfather i think immediately of the religious ceremony of it all

Is Religion discussion allowed on the CT or is there another thread? The wife and I have not settled on what religion to christen the boys. If its Catholic then none of my siblings can be god parents, and if they are not Catholic then her family will pretty much stop talking to her. The Greeks are a little more understanding and not as exclusive.

(I have simplified the theological discussion for the sake of the thread, only like 3 people care here about the Great Schism)

That and baby Riley Skinner is colic-y as all get out and baby Tanner Price is super chill. My sleep is all messed up and I think I broke my toe last night during one of the feedings.

How important is it to you/your family that you’re siblings are involved in the christening or named godparents? Is there another honorific that could be given to them that shows their importance and place in your kids’ life that doesn’t involve their participation in the christening?

It seems like a lot of the pressure is coming from your wife’s side of the family, is she of the same mind (maybe to a varying degree), or is this a potential area where boundaries could be set?

What weight to you and your wife place on the sacrament? Is it of such that this decision of forcing the issue of how/in what faith tradition you would raise your children, or do you view it more as symbolic and a separate issue?

It's p safe, man. Not a ton of people at Garfield's door screaming RACIST or BIGOT

only good thing about garfield is the garfieldminusgarfield comic and the lasagnacat YT series

it seems incredible to me that this IP still gets investment cash

Boomers and old Gen X devoid of new ideas trying to revive what they liked as a kid.

But all I remember is a lazy cat who hates Mondays and likes lasagna mocking anybody who gave a shit.

I had a huge falling out with my parents over the religious content of my first wedding. Such a waste. Can you just baptize them in both churches?

to be fair, it's still at the top of the fold on the sunday comics. it's one of the few my daughter insists on us reading to her

pretty sure that's a double-negative situation and sends the baby directly to HELL
