Biff I thought you were cool but I don’t know anybody over 21 who willingly drinks fireball.

Canceling this Germany/Austria trip and having to try to plan a totally different 8-10 day domestic option on a month's notice with very high prices is giving me all sorts of anxiety.

I think we might just fly into San Diego, rent a car, and cruise up the PCH all the way to San Francisco over like 9 days. Seems like this would be tough to go wrong with? What are the must stops along that route? Thinking something like 2 nights in SD, 3 nights in LA/Orange County/etc, 2 nights in Monterrey/Carmel, 2 nights in SF. Best suburbs places to stay around LA? I feel like Townie (or someone else) may have done something very similar to this recently.

I very much enjoyed Santa Barbra and not just cause I got hit on by a cougar. Cool town with nice wine, food, views and history.

speaking of novelty liquor, remember that Firefly sweet tea vodka that was a big deal for a bit?

That article really made me want to visit Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, have you been to that one?

We went in 2020. It was the perfect spot for social distancing. We loved it even though we suck at fishing. You need to have/rent a boat to do that park. It was beautiful. We would take the boat over to a trailhead and hike without seeing another person. The park service has canoes at some of the small lakes on islands/the peninsula that is surrounded by the larger lakes.

Once you get about 100 yards from the water the biting flies are ridiculous. At least the time of the year we were there. We wore mosquito nets and with long sleeves and pants we were fully protected. Without the nets on our head we would have turned around.

We did not see the northern lights unfortunately. We were there in the summer and your odds of seeing them in the summer are lower.

I ended up choosing similarly. Not gonna pay the outrageous Hawaii prices and just going to drive to SF instead. Probably end up spending the same on tasting menus but oh whale.

I’d stay around the beach towns in LA. Hermosa or Santa Monica. And I’m similarly going to stay in Santa Barbara for a day on the way up to SF

The owners/founders of Firefly own an awesome boutique resort and restaurant in the Abacos in the Bahamas by the same name. I've eaten there a couple times. It got destroyed by Dorian, but I think it's back up and running.

This summer at a music fest, someone had fireball shots and we decided to save them for when Shooter Jennings started and then it just kind of became a thing the rest of the summer - would take a fireball shot at the first note of the first song of the show we were at. All in good fun!

personally, I did not think too much of Carmel -- not a bad stop for what's around it, but the town was pretty touristy as I recall

If Palma and Tiger don’t meet up did the west coast holiday road trips even happen?
