2021 Football Coaching Carousel

Miami’s resurgence has been predicted for years. It never happens. Will believe it when I see it. They have no home field. They play in a pro stadium that is almost an hour from campus. Also, from those that follow the PAC-12 closely. Cristobal’s teams habitually under perform. Don’t see the Canes glory years returning.

In the last 2 full seasons under Christobal Oregon went 22-5 and won their division both times and won a Pac 10 (as a lifelong Pac 10 fan, I will never refer to it as the Pac 12) championship. The only way they underperformed is if the expectation is making the playoff annually, which isn't realistic given the current football landscape.

I mean, Miami is probably going to a four team CFP before Michigan goes back.

Which article do I need to read on Gattis?

I haven't found the one that people are seemingly commenting on.

It's amusing that, even after Michigan finally had a season where they were nationally relevant, they're still somehow in shambles. They'd have been better off if Harbaugh bolted for the NFL.

It’s 2022 people. If you want to know what’s going on, go on Twitter.

I did that. I read a number of articles on Gattis and Michigan. But there is apparently a specific one that people (and Cam, specifically) are discussing and I can't tell which article that is because none of them are all that interesting, tbh.

Cam is notorious for tweeting things with no context or anything, it's very frustrating.

Cristobal was more effective than NFL defenses at stopping Justin Herbert. Not doubting Cristobal as recruiter, but Utah who recruits far below the uber-elite in college football demolished Oregon twice this past season. Cristobal's teams have a habit of losing the big games. Miami has had series of football coaches with connections to the program that end leaving the program with their reputations destroyed. Maybe all of them are horrible coaches, but it seems like the program has flaws that no one has been able to overcome.

Miami will be better: it's almost impossible not to be; Duke has as many Coastal Division titles as Miami, since the Canes joined the ACC, but I just don't see the Canes ever becoming the perennial top 10 program that everyone expects, but never is realized.

Among the other issues, is that back in Miami's heyday, Bama, UGA, Clemson, tOSU didn't have the recruiting reach into Florida that they do now. The best talent in FL used to stay home. That is history now.

Sure. That history isn’t coming back. But there’s no fundamental reason why Coral Gables can’t attract 18 year olds if Tuscaloosa, Columbus, or Athens can.

Facilities are fundamental. Miami’s stadium situation is just awful with no solution on the horizon. Going to go ahead and state that I know the stadium isn’t in Coral Gables to preempt a dumb argument.

Self preservation is key. Gundy is a Man and a mastermind.

Making $1.1M and being the highest paid coordinator ever at OSU is a $400K pay cut.

Wow.
