MBB Game 32: ACCT Time -- #13 BC v. #5 WF: Wednesday - 2:30 pm - ESPN

You’re the one comparing Russell Wilson or Philip rivers to Tim Duncan.

That’s fair. I guess I just meant both fanbases know when push comes to shove, our teams will disappoint and we’re always hoping but knowing in the back of our minds, this usually doesn’t end well. Miserable existence.

Was anyone there? Sounded like there was a pretty good Wake crowd.

Was there, total in Barclays Center probably3000, Wake fans 1250 , BC fans 200 so in comparison we had more fans. I do so miss the 8-9 team league.
DEACS played like crap but still choked like all get out. Outscored 14-4 over last six minutes.

A little quick maybe on that big extension. Would have liked to have seen at least one ACC tournament win and maybe 1 traditional recruiting class that was substantial. But it has been a great regular season compared to the last 10

How does a program carry a freak show mentality like this? We bring in essentially all new players and a new coach and we still freakishly implode in the post season. How do you miss 11 FTs to go into OT against a team you beat by 30 earlier in the year? I am so glad I was unable to watch - I would have broken something. I know it is only 2 points, but Davien shoots almost 90% from the line and missed 2 out of 4? How does that happen? Jake goes 2/5? Good lord!

To me, today's game has nothing to do with our not laying and egg and getting put on the bubble, and everything to do with demonstrating that we're hungry and ready to make some noise in the postseason (both ACC and national tournaments). If we truly want to be deemed relevant both in the conference and nationally after 10 years, it has to start today.

In summary:
-we did lay an egg
-we are on the bubble
-we were not hungry and ready to make some noise
-at this moment anyway, we are not relevant in the ACC or nationally

Daivien

team made 1 of 5 FT's down the stretch including the missed front end of a 1-1

9 points scored from 6:06 mark through 0:09 left (that is 11 minutes of game time), when Monsanto hit the meaningless 3

TL; DR this thread, and I'd probably just get pissed anyway.

We played like shit. No doubt about it.

It struck me that the team seemed "all up in its head". Nervous. Not ready for the "big stage".

We were off from the jump.

We had every opportunity to win, and should have won comfortably despite this. But I think it bears repeating that, after Grant's whiny ass technical foul when we were dominating the game, BC promptly was awarded the next 9 FTs in a row, and outshot us 13-5 for the rest of the 2nd half. Kudos to him, I guess, for fighting for his team, but it's a perfect example of the pure incompetent ACC officiating that has borderline destroyed my love for college basketball over the years (along with Wellman and 2 miserable coaching hires). I doubt I'll even watch any of the remaining ACC tournament games.

For a team as shitty as BC to shoot 9 straight FTs against a superior team fighting for it's tournament life (at a stretch in the game where we were beginning to take over) is fucking WILD. Zero chance that happens if we're wearing royal/baby blue and we win by 5-6+. Such is life as a Wake fan.

Are you seriously comparing what we’ve been through as a fanbase to either of those teams?

Of course not. You stated that it NEVER happens to them and last year it happened to both of them. Yesterday was a huge disappointment, but if they get in the field, they have a real opportunity to change the narrative.

I've been a Wake fan for half a century almost and while the faces change over the years, the characteristics of our program seem to stay the same.

I do as well. Of our last 17 ACC tournament games, only two were against schools that were both a)In the ACC when I was in school and b)are still in the ACC today. FSU in 2008 and NCSt in 2016. One more reason-aside from the copious losing-that I find it hard to get invested in the tournament these days.

Was it just me or does BC routinely have boxed out players lean into (and over) the backs of the wake player going for a rebound. Seemed to be a common theme reffs missed all afternoon.

No fucking excuse losing this game. Missed free throws is choking.

Forbes should be embarrassed. Also Mitt Shah wtf? Peter Luger. Luger my peter geez.

Probably missed it, but somewhere on this thread there has to be a comparison to Wake's no-show at the Barclay and Kyrie's.

I did not see Coach's post presser, but was he asked why Mucius watched most of the game from the bench? On his Monday presser he stated that Mucius was the heart and soul of the team and bleeds black and gold. Seems weird that your heart and soul who is also a good defender didn't play his normal rotation minutes.
