Totally Unofficial 2021/22 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Everton played with no heart for 5 months, but since the Burnley debacle its a different team. Lampard dropping the sacred cows has really helped. Hope Mina is OK, I didn't see the injury.

Hope Leeds don't go down, that would be unfortunate with all the injuries they've had and after all they accomplished the previous two years.

Get lost Burnley, come on down and make the Championship even more wide open than normal

Burnley have a tougher path than us. @Spurs, @Villa, Newcastle. Leeds have Chelsea, Brighton, @Brentford to close the season. 4 points should keep us up, but it's possible that Burnley don't pick up any more points, so a single point could be enough.

Leeds have been really good at beating the teams they should have beaten this year. Great record against the bottom 5, miserable against the other 14. 4 points is a huge ask against those 3 teams. TBH Chelsea might be the lowest hanging fruit right now.

Yeah, I think Leeds would take 4 points against those 3 right now and run like a scalded dog. 3 points might be tough.

Chelsea are vulnerable right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if we managed a point (or three) against them. Also wouldn't be surprised if we get throttled. Performances against Brighton and Brentford will ultimately decide out fate, IMO.

If I had to bet now, Burnley go down and we stay up. We obviously can't make up the goal differential but their remaining three matches feel more daunting than what we have.

I'm also getting really tired off the Marsch-hate/Bielsa slobber fest on the twitters. I get the love for Bielsa. My first seasons following Leeds involved finding sketchy streams to watch us get our teeth kicked in by the likes of Swindon Town at the asscrack of dawn in a cow pasture in front of like 15 people. I'll forever be grateful for what Bielsa accomplished.

With that said, if Bielsa wasn't canned I'm confident we would be going down. There's no way he manages the 11 points Marsch has earned since taking over with the way the team was trending.

This is what being a Leeds supporter is all about. The LORD hates us, and we are in really, really big trouble. Must steal a point from Chelsea. Need 3 somewhere.

THIS is why I'm jealous of all of you that have visited EPL stadiums or others around the world. I'd love to be a part of ^that^ one day.

Leeds try to win games 3-2, Burnley bores opponents to death for a 0-0 draw or nick a 1-0 win (I don't know what's sadder... Burnley's style of play or the fact that I willingly watch them each week)
In the remaining 3 games, Burnley will get a couple of draws. Leeds will be lucky to pick up a win.
They lost Dallas and Ayling. Burnley will be missing Tarkowski, but almost any defender can defend in their deep formation.

My guess is that Leeds will be up 2 points on the final day, and Leeds will draw with Brentford and Burnley will beat Newcastle, and will go down on GD.

I hope desperately that Burnley gets relegated

Man City win it easily if they sign Kane, but I'll stick my neck out for United to win the league should City not sign him.

The first bolded statement is funny. The second would really suck.

No good?

Anyway, you asked about Uniteds youth setup before and this just came out in The Athletic. Great read, imo

Interesting read. The one thing that stuck out as a positive for you as a club is the age level playing at U-23.

We have tried to go younger than normal. Our under-18s team’s average age is 17. Our average age in the 23s is 19. We get the older boys out on loan.

With England's reticence to put club B teams in the pyramid, this seems to be the best avenue for navigating the break into the first team. Saka all but skipped U23 and went straight from U18 into the first team at age 17, but Smith Rowe, Nketiah, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson, all of them were in the U23 squad around 17-18 and out on loan before 20. If you're going to do a rebuild, you have to have a huge crop of youth so that at least 1-2 can be first team contributors and the best way to get them there is to see if they can hack it at an early age in U23 level, so kudos to Man U for trying that.

and the price is insanely cheap too (for the talent). reportedly just 60 mil.

Apparently it's a release clause plus I imagine Dortmund is going to get a hefty chunk of the reported fees associated with the deal. I've seen some reports that the agent fees and commissions are greater than the transfer fee itself.
