Yesterday I was bemoaning to the wife about the lack of good day trip spots from the DFW area, and how with infants, a 3 hour drive turns into a 5 hour drive pretty quickly. She then mentioned that Louisiana is only about a 3 hour drive away. This immediately piqued my interest. While Big Bend (in TX) and NOLA are both 7 hours away, North Louisiana may be a more manageable weekend trip.

So if anyone has some experience in Shreveport or anything up that way which I should check out. Holler at ya boy.

Whew. God damn.

Big Bend may seem only seven hours away, but once you get there it takes hours and hours and hours to drive across the park.

We have been talking about going to Big Bend/Terlingua for a while now. Would you recommend it Phan?

I vacation at Myrtle Beach in the summer by choice, and I would not go on a free vacation to Louisiana. It is the worst state in the country.

not even New Orleans?

other than that and going to an LSU game I agree with you about nothing else there worth doing.

New Orleans wasn't awful I guess, but I vastly prefer Charleston or Savannah. Other than that and a swamp tour I took, Louisiana was pretty terribad. I've never seen a state where the entire populace was just like, "we're not going to use trash cans anywhere for any purpose".

what'd you do, eat pizza the whole time you were there?

Some of the most casually racist things I have ever heard said came down in Louisiana.

Wait until you meet white South Africans. My wife no longer allows me to strike up conversations with white South Africans after some of the things they said. Its amazing how quickly just saying "Congrats on winning the Rugby World Cup" can turn into just extremely racist stuff.

I drove through northern Louisiana when I moved from Austin to Clemson and do not even recommend doing that. Avoid.

Man, the food is tasty at times but it just reflects the whole we don't care about quality of life thing that they have going down there. I like crawfish though.

I did tour the tabasco plant.

Ya, Baton Rouge for a game would be cool, but that's not much closer than NOLA. I mean Shreveport has a Margaritaville Resort, but other than that I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I’ve never been to either, but I’m curious how LA could possibly be worse than MS. At least they have New Orleans and cool nature stuff like swamps and shit.

You should at least start with New Orleans being the most overrated place on earth.

the best part of shreveport is the weedeater bowl and that's the best thing to do on new years eve, if that tells you anything about what a hellhole it is. I'd rather live in greensboro for eternity than spend a week in shreveport

I think now it's the day after Christmas so you'd have to travel/be in Shreveport on Christmas to attend
