Totally Unofficial 2022/23 Premier League Thread

the portugal defender has logged on !

he's productive when he wants to be and he whines and moans when he wants, too. guessing he'd be a nightmare to manage, like many prima donnas united have dealt with in recent years with more talent than brains.

He was everywhere on the field, playing in the penalty area, putting in the dirty work, he did not stop for both halves, and you're gonna to call him a prima donna? He rose to the occasion as captain, this was not the same team that lost Brentford. Bruno made all of the difference.

Speaking of being the defender of the Portuguese though, Matheus Nunes on the Wolves is going to be absolute fire.

Not to split hairs but if Bruno kept walking it back to the center circle, Salah wouldn't have tried to grab the ball. Bruno got it, took a couple of steps, and then proceeded to keep hold of it (and walked backwards) when salah tried to get it. He was not "walking it back": he was doing the exact opposite. Honestly, it looked like a bunch of 5 year olds arguing in a playground over who gets the ball.

So...what you are saying is that if Salah didn't make a fuss about it that Bruno would have continued to walk the ball back to the center circle, correct? We agree then.

Salah was being petulant and wasted time. Bruno was under no obligation to give Liverpool the ball. That isn't how the game works.

what we are witnessing is people that have a narrative in mind and then using confirmation bias to find a supportive argument for said narrative without a care about how flimsy the argument is

kinda comical. and sad. but mainly comical.

it does indeed confirm my bias every time bruno does something like flop and earn yellows

lol ok townie. you keep bringing up something that wasn't the discussion like it proves you are correct. whatever makes you feel better, sweetheart.

anywhooooo.... what a tactical masterclass by Eric ten Hag yesterday. Completely got it right from before kickoff to the final whistle. Get new owners in (which removes the needless handbrake) and the sky isn't even the limit for this guy.

Bruno yesterday was everything that United need him to be. He killed himself running around the pitch and got stuck in when he needed to. He's absolutely a feisty shithouser and I get why fans of other teams hate him, but I chalk it more up to passion than being a whiny bitch. I don't think his complaining does him any favors with the refs, but he is who he is. As for the dive, it was dumb and I have absolutely no idea why players continue to do it in the days of VAR. Deserved yellow and the look on his face when he got up shows that he knows it. The whole walking the ball thing with Salah was also dumb, but I put that more on Salah than Bruno. Bruno had the ball in his arms and Salah decides to push him and try and wrestle the ball away. Salah doesn't have any more right to take the ball back to the center circle than Bruno.

All in all, I really enjoyed the first 80 minutes of that game yesterday, though the last 15 was a little more nervy than I would have liked. Regardless, that was a massive three points for United and definitely a step in the right direction. There are going to be some more struggles and awful performances this year, and United is nowhere near top 4, but it at least shows some growth and that EtH isn't scared to sit some of the more senior and expensive players in order to get the team to do what he wants. I'll be really disappointed if we see Maguire, Ronaldo or Shaw on Saturday against Sotton. I think that Martinez and Malacia earned the right to keep their spots, and at this point I think Ronaldo would be better off finding a new home by the time the week is out.

maybe i'm not having the same conversation about the dumb bruno-salah dustup as you are? i literally only cared about him diving obviously. not trying to win an argument, just saying he's a bozo. you guys have blinders on because he is such an important contributor to your club.

it's like my spurs fans friends who now have to figure out a way to like richarlison after they spent years hating his guts.

yea pretty simple tbh

Lol bruno is a total asshole. The dive was horrendous. And holding the ball to prevent the opponent from getting it is absolutely time-wasting. Idk if the rules call it a bookable offense, but I've seen players booked for it before.

Feel free to defend bruno if he's on your team, but everybody else hates him for good reason.

Salah was being petulant, but Bruno was just as childish... AND he feigned an eye injury on top of it....

Just saw that Everton is trying to get in late and beat Newcastle to Joao Pedro.

a lot of heat about the gordon deal happening, and if it's really 50m going up to 60, i don't know what the club is waiting for. you can seriously reinvest that money right away. others linked on top of pedro include a broja loan deal, kudus from ajax, and some less exciting ideas. any combination of those would immediately improve the squad over ant gordon, who is fast and direct, but can't make up his mind in the box. he could turn into an absolutely top player, but he's not there yet.

he wasn't just standing there with the ball. he was literally walking back to the center circle!

Bruno is a shithouserry master, no doubt, but nothing wrong with what he did after Liverpool got their consolation goal.

hahahhahaahhaa those inside the club want the Glazers out too. Green and Gold at the bottom of the corner flag then it was posted to the club's twitter account.

Also, this is so accurate. This Liverpool side would be bang on just scraping to get into the top 4 in the late 90s to early 2000s

Those United and Arsenal sides were miles ahead of this Liverpool squad.

Gonna be hard to win the treble when Arsenal wins a second golden PL trophy

The only thing that needs to be said about Bruno is that if Xhaka did half the things that Bruno gets away with, he would be permanently suspended from the Premier League.
