Such a weird argument.

I don't get insincere from that clip. Conflating something like that with her record as a prosecutor seems more than a little disingenuous. Its really easy to understand that people of privilege and of a certain older age group would be all about the "tough on crime" bs.

Pennsylvania Republicans didn't want to wait for 2023 and went ahead with the impeachment of the Philly DA in an attempt to tag all Dems as soft on crime before the general election.

Then they lost the state house in November, lol.

Yeah, I don't get insincere either. It's just an old corny dude dancing like an old corny dude. Good lord, people. (Though, I appreciate Ph and mdmh using this thread for foreplay purposes.)
 
I sincerely don’t trust Kamala, believe it or not. I don’t trust 99% of politicians. Watching a powerful politician act goofy reminds me of that line from mean girls about how seeing school teachers outside of school is like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs.

Sure. It takes a real stretch Armstrong type reach to pretend an analogy about insincerity is somehow racist because a dog is mentioned. This is the insidious side of representation political rhetoric - it mutes legitimate, general criticisms. Kamala’s race, ethnicity, gender, whatever, are all completely irrelevant to her quality or sincerity as a politician.

You're welcome to refer to me how you like, but I'm not really a fan of how you phrased that and I agree with a lot of what you have to say (including your mistrust of politicians as a profession).

The joke in Mean Girls, written by Tina Fey and directed towards Tina Fey, wasn’t sexist, and my referencing it toward Kamala isn’t racist. It’s about the awkwardness of seeing someone you know in an unfamiliar context that appears unnatural for them.

The teacher is playing a specific role in the classroom and who they are is the person outside of the class. The teacher outside is class isn’t unnatural. If that’s your interpretation of the joke, it seems like you’re taking a shot at yourself for being unfamiliar.

mako, it’s clear she’s trying to learn and do the dance the girls are doing. That’s the awkward part but it’s understandable.

Of all the things politicians do on the trail, this seems like a weird one to mock. And I still don’t get the Phantom Menace reference.
