Sam Hartman

Sam is going to ND as QB1…Freeman had the conversation w Pyne who would have been #3 next year and Buckner. Sam will be the starter until he loses it on the field. Know a lot of ND grads and all are all in for Sam
I would just remind folks that Jamie left WF being talked as a sure fire nfl pick and starter for UGA and Wofford before him put up gaudy stats as well landing him a nfl gig as a back up. We might get tired of mesh O but we will quickly find out if yet another qb looked great because of a system as well as the best WR coach in the land regularly churning out an amazing bunch of WRs the past 6-7 years that makes the QBs look great. Especially this years crops which I think is arguably our best and not even close. Sam better hope he gets good protection as ND will play a more traditional O and his WRs may not be the caliber he’s used to Although they have some great TEs. Just guessing his stats may not be as gaudy.

Wolford’s sticking around in the NFL seems more a credit to Wolford than anything else. There are a ton of guys with NFL backup as a ceiling and it’s much more likely to not be that guy.

Just looking at the ND “fans” posting on Sam’s IG and telling other Wake players to transfer bc they’ll lose by 30 in October has my blood boiling. I honestly have never wanted us to kick someone’s ass more.

If ND fans are expecting Sam to win them big games, the joke's on them.

I'm sure Freeman has enough sense to pull Hartman after he throws the first 2 or 3 picks.

Leary is getting $800k for a year at Kentucky. I imagine Sam is getting around that figure.
Sam is getting a lot less than that. But they have told him - correctly I'm sure - that he will have opportunities to make more through endorsements being a QB at Notre Dame. But in terms of up front money into the account he's getting a lot less than Leary (IF the Leary $800k is true which I sort of doubt).

The Leary figure came from Joe Giglio, who is pretty well connected to the NC State program. I don't think he would have shared that figure if the source wasn't solid. Especially since it's something that I'm sure can be verified at some point.

It benefits the NC State program if he reports an inflated number for Devin Leary's NIL package because 1) they can point to that number to show why they couldn't keep Leary and 2) it lets them make the case for boosters donating more money to their NIL collective. Giglio reporting something unverified but beneficial for State is a way he can keep his sources and connections.

To the bolded - how would it be verified at some point, with Leary coming right out and saying it?

I was assuming that records related to payments associated with a public school might be available through a public records request. Maybe not.

it's not the school paying him. it's a private collective

Schools aren't making the payments. It's private "collectives". So, boosters who don't have to report anything. There's technically not supposed to be coordination between the school and the collective, but with no enforcement mechanism, schools (in many cases) are communicating the offers to recruits/transfers but aren't holding the bag of money.

This is a good point. I would assume that the NIL collectives are private though. People may be able to see tax returns for players at public schools after the fact though I guess.
