WFU Hoops: '23-'24 Roster Construction Thread: +Miller, Sallis, Reid, & Canka

I never claimed to know anything. Not my problem you all stubbornly insist upon assuming that a first round draft guarantee is the only reason a basketball player would leave our team. It’s a very America-centric perspective that college basketball and the NBA are the only worthwhile opportunities.
Naw man. You made a declaration about big red flags when the items you mention are just possibilities like the others.

Almost every basketball player would like a shot to play against the best in the world. The best usually find a way to the NBA. They shoot their shot and then if that does not work there are options all over the world.

By the way, who the hell is this guy? Granted I only watched a few games this season because I'm still mired in the Lost Decade, but I barely remember him.
He got a bit of run at the start of the season but clearly wasn't ready yet so his minutes got reduced to basically nothing in the middle of the season. He was improving pretty quickly though and started getting more playing time after the conference games started and then after Damari blew out his knee Bobi basically took all of his minutes and did very well with them.

He looked like a bit of a deer in the headlights for a lot of last season but he was improving quickly and clearly has all of the tools to be a great player. A lot of people thought he'd be coming back next season and playing a big part in the team and then he'd probably leave for the draft and be a lottery pick after that, but it doesn't look like he was interested in waiting another year.

We have a lot more depth on the wing than we do at point or at center. So lowing Bobi sucks but it’s a position we can absorb a hit better.

it’s worth remembering that a player can go through the entire draft process and return to school if they go undrafted, as long as they don’t take money from an agent or pro organization. Bobi reportedly announced that he is not returning to Wake whether or not he is drafted
As noted, is nice he didn't ask Forbes to hold a scholarship in case he wants to come back.

I'm guessing we didn't have enough juice to compete with Miami, etc., anyway, but damn, Matthew Cleveland would have been perfect.

I can read and understand context. You made assumptions while complaining (a little assholey) about other people making assumptions. While patting yourself on the back.

I'm not going to turn this into anything more than a minor "call out" that I intended.

sure, I've made that point, but last year's team had unsatisfying results

we need improvement somewhere. Doubt we get it from the PG position
Yea, this is the key. Deaconson is right to point out that our multi-week speculation of Bobi's draft status has probably morphed our collective memory as to how productive he actually was last year, but the fact is we missed the NIT so simply equaling last year's roster shouldn't be good enough.

We're losing Appleby, which is massive. Next year's idea of Bobi what might've been was important to potentially off-setting some of the loss from Appleby (indirectly, of course). Now we need to replace Appleby and Bobi (and Lucas Taylor, etc.) and still find ways to improve enough to flirt with a post-season bid.

#19 is the Wake spot.
Yea, if memory serves Bobi would be our 4th pick at that slot:
  • John Collins #19
  • Jake Laravia #19
  • Jeff Teague #19
We separately had James Johnson at #16, so we're locking down those mid-teens.

It’s a bullshit callout and I’m not going to take it from you. I didn’t “assume” anything. It’s an assumption to say that he must have gotten a guarantee and it’s a even worse assumption to say that because he finished out the semester it means he is coming back. You all need to get over yourselves and over this old school mentality that the value of a college scholarship is soo high that a player would only leave if they were guaranteed to get drafted. It’s not true. None of you have any clue that he was given a guarantee, you’re just coping. Either way he’s gone and your are wasting your damn time bitching at me about it.

all about you, and acting
just like New Jersey
