Saudi World Golf Tour 2022/2023 Thread

BMW picks so far. I'm going to add Rory with my +300 DK boost but am waiting to see if it'll tick back down to +700 on the site from +650 so I can also have him 10-1. Up in the air on Hovland but may add a small play on him as well.

Rahm 10-1
Hideki 35-1
Tom Kim 45-1
Poston 65-1
Grillo 80-1

Cantlay, Homa, and Glover are three guys I expect will play well and I think fit the course just fine but I can't pull the trigger on them at the odds they're posted - just better value out there on other guys IMO.

Yeah hard to go chalk in a short field with such bad odds even though chalk will likely take it. Need someone like Grillo to win, on him as well. Maybe more fun to take flyers on guys who need good finishes to make it to East Lake but also are good on tough courses. Hatton maybe. Cam Davis is a good one, maybe Ben An, Taylor Moore, or Eric Cole...

I've been cursed in my pick 'em league for the back half of this year, have to choose between Homa and Xander this week. I'll post who I go with so everyone can load up on the opposite...

Surely you save Xander for East Lake?

Yeah I’m glad to have a bonus bet to toss on Rahm where a win there would at least cover the bets for the week. Kind of the same thought on Rory. Just not a lot of value for this type of field obviously.

I’m $50k or so behind second in our one and done but second place has Rahm left. This is the last event. I think my best odds guy remaining is Glover so….I guess we’re just big Glover fans again

I have Scotty reserved for East Lake actually. Yes, I mismanaged things. Badly.

For numbers - I dropped my bonus on Hovland but obviously Rahm a more likely hit. I just feel like he's been a little rusty and might play it a touch safe to hold his spot for the final. Weird season betting - I rolled like every free bet for a couple months into Rahm for the Masters and hit Harmon - and basically nothing else. And fell apart in my one and done league after being top 5 for 75% of the year. Ah well.

I love Homa and would love to see him win on a big stage

Looks like I have already won my One and Done - up by $3.9M with just this event left (we don't do East Lake). That's a nice little late summer boon.

Had some really good luck early on in the year and held on through the last few weeks.

In addition to Davis, I love An as a long shot, he's just been hitting the hell out of the ball this year.

Michael Kim is an elite twitter follow too. Really good insight you don't hear a lot from guys playing in events.

He was the #1 on the best college golf team ever that didn't win the title - 2013 Cal.

Their starting 5 was Max Homa, Brandon Hagy, Joel Stalter, Michael Weaver and Michael Kim. Kim was the #1 ranked Am in the world. Homa won NCAA's that year. Weaver was the 2012 US Am runner up (and acted like an entitled twat when he lost to a relative no name in the final). Stalter and Hagy both have respectable pro careers.

They won 11 times and lost to only 4 teams the entire season with the last being the NCAA semis to Illinois.

2013 Illinois had Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry. They were pretty loaded too.

What was the overlap with us in the last few years?

I know Young and Zalatoris were on the same team, but I THINK Fitzpatrick was there for at least the fall one year too where they were both there. Eugenio Chacarra was around that same time as well.

That's pretty insane.

They were all technically together one year. I’m not sure Alex was starting though? Also Young was super mercurial. That said. We should’ve done better lol

Young (was a senior) played with Fitzpatrick (was a frosh) for one full season (2018-9). Zalatoris turned pro in the middle of the 2017-8 season; so, he played for 2.5 years with Young, but never played with Fitzpatrick.

Didn’t Young et al make NCAA match play his senior year?

Thats right! Thanks Pilch

Eugenio Chacarra was a freshman with Fitzpatrick; so, he was on the same team with Cam Young. He transferred to OK State after his sophomore year at WF. Ultimately, Chacarra rose to #2 in the World Amateur rankings. Chacarra signed with the LIV tour, and won a LIV event in 2022.
