Official 2022-23 NBA Offseason - Aces win WNBA Finals; Preseason; NBA Fantasy League last call

Ph did you see that the Spurs are debating playing Wemby at point?
Yeah. That's for clicks. Pop is just playing him wherever in practice to get a feel for his game. Wemby and Osman are the only new guys who will see major time with the big club. Pop already knows the old guys.

Most likely Wemby will start at PF, Collins will start at C, and Sochan will come off the bench. The closing lineup will likely be Wemby at C and Sochan at PF. It's basically a modern version of Splitter, Duncan, and Diaw, a physical C to take some of the heat off the start PF with a playmaking PF coming off the bench.

@PhDeac any money involved in this league? Trying to recruit a friend
No money. Just fun. Friends are welcome.

I can get us 2 if we need it. @MHBDemon - lmk if your friend is interested. If not, then I'll get us to 10

I wouldn't sign Harden for the vet minimum. Not a winner and not a team player. Can't stand him
Yeah, I get Philly is trying to trade him, but ain't no way I'd want him, especially considering his recent playoff form. He'll have a big game here or there but will disappear too often.

And while I'm happy for Portland getting a decent haul for Jrue, I'm pissed he ended up in Boston.

What is Philly’s plan?

Time to start moving on the OGBoards NBA Fantasy League. This is who has committed to the league so far.

I'd like to finalize the league roster by next Monday, October 9. I've put in the following settings, but they're open for discussion:

League: Yahoo

Scoring Type: Head-to-Head
--You face one other team every week. You get one point for each category you win each week. For example, if you win 7 categories and lose 3 categories, your record after Week 1 is 7-3. In Week 2, if you win 2 categories, lose 7 categories, and tie in one, your season record is now 9-10-1.

Roster: 10 starters, 3 bench, 2 injured list+, 1 injured list (PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, IL, IL+, IL+)
--Injured list - for players who are on an NBA team's injured list (IL)
--Injured list - for players on the IL but also players who are out for a game or a game-time decision

Categories: 10 categories: Field Goal Percentage (FG%), Free Throw Percentage (FT%), 3-point Shots Made (3PTM), Points Scored (PTS), Offensive Rebounds (OREB), Total Rebounds (REB), Assists (AST), Steals (ST), Blocked Shots (BLK), Turnovers (TO)

Waivers: Dropped players go on Waivers for 2 days and become Free Agents after that. Waiver priority is the reverse draft order. If you get a player off waivers, you drop to the bottom.

Max Acquisitions for the Season: You can pick up to 50 players off waivers throughout the season. That's a little over 2 per week including the playoffs.
Max Acquisitions for the Week: You can pick up to 4 players off waivers each week. That will help with schedule imbalance and injuries. But you can't abuse it or you may not have enough to last through the whole season.

Playoffs: 8 teams from Week 21-23. The last week of the season is not part of the playoffs.

Playoffs are seeded by record and reseeded each round. The playoff tiebreaker is the higher seed.

4 seed and a second round exit?
Tho the team is dangerously close to roping me back in all shitting on Doc at media day and talking about his stand around offense compared to training camp with Nurse’s motion offense and the team defending all together

It hasn’t gotten any better from a roster perspective but apparently Danny Green is a good vibes guy

Didn’t get League Pass for the first time in like 6 years, will check back in when the price drops if they’re playing ok

can we get one more?
Hope so.

WNBA announced an expansion team in the Bay Area. They're working on a second expansion team in Portland. The Portland Fire were in the WNBA from 2000-2002. That would bring the league to 14 teams.

Yeah. I set it up to 16. That makes 10.

Warriors will be a lot of fun to watch, especially Chris and Steph on offense, they will generate a lot of highlights.

My prediction is Chris starts every game and then he leads the 15mins where Steph is on the bench. Hard not to see Kuminga being huge in those 15mins given Chris’ history elevating bigs.

Kerr has already ‘caved’ to letting Chris start, and I think that will continue throughout the season. The interesting thing to watch (especially when Draymond is back) is if Kerr ‘caves’ to letting him finish because we all know Chris well enough to know he badly wants to finish. One of Chris’ superpowers since playing with the Thunder is his ability to close strong.

If I were Kerr I would ‘sympathy start’ Chris for the first 4mins, use him for the 15 non-Steph minutes with Kuminga pick and roll, and close with him (assuming the game is close). Chris should never go above 30mins in the regular season.

I don't think the Warriors minutes will be that big of an issue because CP, Steph, Klay, and Draymond shouldn't be playing too many minutes. Some matchups would require Looney closing over Draymond. Some would require both. Wiggins is the big X factor.

My baseball team name has always been Moistest Alou and I’m gonna struggle to come up with something as good for basketball. Do we need a separate thread at this point?

Yes. I don't want your fantasy banter cluttering up my Eric Collins' Deez Nuts Dunk of the Game Hornets call highlights.
