2023 Carolina Panthers thread - HOF Julius Peppers

One of 2&2's main argument s that NFL offensive QB numbers have continue to rise, so CJ's numbers aren't impressive. The funny thing is that is opposite of true. NFL passing yards, passing touchdowns, and QB ratings have all gone down over the last five years.

It is time to take the L.

Regarding the Panthers, I think it’s unusual for so many roster moves to be this bad on their own. IMO there is probably a big underlying problem on the team that soured everything, and turned otherwise decent or middling roster moves into disasters.

As it regards CJ Stroud, he looks like a franchise QB, and I doubt Maye, Williams, or Pennix, as rookies, are going to put up the stats that Stroud just did.

Thus why Baker looked horrible for the Panthers then led the Bucs to a division title. If he had worked out for the Panthers (and/or they kept Wilks) most of these disastrous moves probably don’t happen.

Maybe not hirin the coach they wanted? The guy they put their heart and Soul into last season. If not that, maybe they just don’t want to play for an asshat.

At this moment I don’t think there is a single front office in the NFL that would trade CJ Stroud for any of the 2024 QB prospects.
But would they trade CJ Stroud for a 2024 QB prospect, Jalen Carter, and DJ Moore?

Feel free to answer the question: Do you think that the Panthers drafting CJ Stroud would have been a better move than not making the trade, keeping Darnold one more year, drafting Carter, and waiting to take one of this year's QBs?

Yes. I think taking CJ Stroud would be better than that scenario. And so would every other NFL GM out there.

2&2 is worse than Stephen A and Finebaum combined with his hot takes and moving the goal posts

Moving the goalposts is the precisely accurate term. His argument had been that CJ Stroud wouldn’t be good, period, just because he was an Ohio State quarterback.

I’m feeling secondhand embarrassment for him still trying to claim victory.

I’m reading that in 2018 Steph Curry wanted to buy the Panthers, along with P. Diddy and the owner of the 76ers. And that Adam Silver overruled it because it would be a conflict of interest? Is that internet lore or does that have any truth to it.

Heard they fired Fit this a.m. That's a positive start. I'd hire a GM before hiring a coach. And again, it should be someone who has been a director of college scouting. Then let that GM hire the coach.

any rumors of interview requests? I've seen a bunch of tweets for the Commanders requesting GM and HC interviews.

He has been good when put into a good situation in a really bad division. Whoopdeedamndoo. He isn't winning anything significant, and he is about to lose to a dude who was sitting on his couch 6 weeks ago.

Yes. Stroud is good. He is everything he was in college. The throws he made on Saturday were insane.

This is next level stubborn

Yes. Stroud is the real deal.

Trading up to take Stroud OR firing Rhule, hiring Wilks and sticking with CMC and DJ and the #9 pick would have been better than what they actually did.
I don’t hate the CMC trade. By the time Panthers are real contenders he’s gonna be on the decline IMO

Would it be possible to hire Brandon Beane? He would be my pick for GM, Tepper can just pay him more than the Bills would be willing to on a longer term contract.

He should have been our GM anyways, if we didn't fuck it up to begin with.
