My problem is that I read at a conversation-pace, so it takes me FOR EV ER to get through a book. I'm good for a few books per year and I'd say half of my reading gets done in airports/airplanes.
I'm too goddamn ADD to stay off my phone to read. I used to try and do it on planes and at pools/beaches. but now that I have a young child ain't no relaxing with a book on the beach going on.

This is also part of my problem. I'll often zone out or start thinking about something else and realize I have no idea what I just read for the last two pages.

Probs my favorite reads of the year (in a year that mostly included other Fantasy/Romance series lol that kind of year). Iron Flame was a bit clunky (should have been 2 books!) but I'm in love with the characters and story enough to forgive any missteps from a writing perspective. Absolutely sweating book 3.
For real? You're honestly the first male I've heard who's read them. I agree, Fourth Wing was much better for the story. Iron Flame was an odd story line/progression. I'm invested at this point, though - will absolutely read book 3.

I haven't read ACOTAR or Fourth Wing but the divide on the Fantasy subreddit on them is fascinating. Either folks are obsessed with them and have read them multiple times or absolutely rip them for being low hanging smut. I almost want to read one just to see what it's all about.

man I woulda been so fucked with smartphones in school as an English major. at least with my laptop then I could just leave it plugged in on my desk and do my reading in a chair or bed.

Are you all listening to all these books or are you finding time to get through actual paper books?

CT - resume question. Is it still preferred to keep it to 2 pages? I've done a lot in 20 years of work, and I'm not sure I can trim it down to only 2 pages.

our entire family/all the siblings at least have read em 😂, it's made for some great discussion/etc

i'm only mad because i didn't realize it was a series when i started fourth wing and i made a rule to never start unfinished series because I hate waiting for sequels to drop (fucking still waiting on GoT and Kingkiller chronicles smh)

Kindle for me mostly. I keep it by the bed and when I'm reading a book/series I'm really enjoying I'll probably read 1 hour or so a night (and I really enjoy it I'll be up until 5am and have regrets the next day).

I can not listen to audiobooks. My brain just does not process information the same way and my thoughts are more prone to wander and completely miss lots of details/action.

Two page resume?!

I've only looked over a handful of resumes the last couple years, but was in a hiring role in my pre-wine world job, and a one page resume was definitely the norm/expected then (four years ago). Am I the old man ?!

But seriously, my resume is 1 page and almost every resume I see is 1 page

Absolutely. You can always add an "Additional Employment Experience" section and take the less-applicable items down to a single line to show continuous employment. One page is better.

Yeah I use a Kindle for almost all my reading and do exactly the same re: bedtime reading - basically read at least an hour a night every night until I fall asleep. Same with audiobooks unless I'm doing a menial chore (dishes, cleaning the house, etc.).

I had the same ADD issue that BBD mentioned when I wasn't reading as much but the Kindle really helped a lot with that. Now I can't put books down. Is it ADHD?!
