WFU Hoops: '24-'25 Roster Construction Thread: +Spillers/Biliew/Cosby/Johnson/Abass

Do you all think it's realistic to get a quality big man if Carr and Reid stay? If Marsh, Keller, and Marion leave, Forbes can't promise more than 20 minutes to an incoming transfer. I think the best Forbes can probably do there is a promising mid-major with 2 or 3 years of eligibility to come off the bench and likely start next year. Now that could end up being a LaRavia type but there's a ceiling on that spot.

I do, but I don't think it'll be a grad transfer or older player with only 1 year of eligibility.

I have to think that Forbes understands we have Carr, Reid, (and Marsh) leaving after next season... That is a HUGE hole for '25-26 (literally and figuratively) in the frontcourt. Ideally we'd find someone like Carr who can play for 2-3 total seasons. Can't imagine Forbes would wait until next year to bring in some bigs (via portal or '25 HS recruiting).

Florida made it work this year with 3 newcomers - Samuel, Handlogten, and Condon. All got decent minutes (when healthy), and 2 of the 3 will be back next year (if Handlogten's recovery goes well).

Windy is writing revisionist history on Monsanto. Yeah he was fun. Yeah he was a lights out shooter. But he was high maintenance from the time he stepped on Wake's campus and he and Forbes butted heads multiple times. He had some of the highest highs we have seen as Deac fans and he also caused some serious drama during his years here including the worst timing we could have imagined. Mercurial is the perfect word to describe him and like I said, it's probably the nicest way too.
was he really high maintenance from the moment he stepped on campus?

he followed Forbes from ETSU, so the relationship was good enough to make that move and most of the buzz was positive during his early season rehab his first year

don't remember hearing "high maintenance" rumors from the beginning

i'm just impressed the wake "insiders" didn't report this first
must have not been part of the path for them

Any relation to our freshman pitcher?
Thought the same might be possible, but no:

Dakota is from Hampton, GA:

Haidan is from Salisbury, NC

Marcus Foster (6-4 guard) can play:

17 ppg and 7.5 rpg for a solid Furman team

Deacs among the schools in contact with VMI's Tyran Cook (6-2 freshman guard 12.5 ppg; 2.5 rpg; from Wisconsin):

Keep in mind 'contact' could be a WF staff member just checking to see if WF could even recruit him.

Assume we will 20 of these the next week with our name listed.

More than that. Which why its fruitless to even guess as to who WF is going after or will possibly land until there is information about a visit and an offer. There will likely be over 1,000 players in the portal; the list as to who WF values and feels they can get into school is proprietary; just impossible to pick two or three targets and say let's land these guys and be done. Doesn't work that way.

I also would prefer a portal heavy approach. We had too many unproductive players that could not sniff the floor. We have to get some tough, hard nosed players.
