I honestly can't believe your car just wasn't declared totaled from that tbh, feels like insurance companies these days are real quick on the draw to jump there
yeah me too. but after we got it back I took it to the Subaru dealer to give it a look over to make sure it's all working well. I was worried the underside would've been fucked with the remnants of a large bear passing underneath. still running well !I honestly can't believe your car just wasn't declared totaled from that tbh, feels like insurance companies these days are real quick on the draw to jump there
nope!Did the airbags deploy? When I hit a deer at 45+ I had less exterior damage than that but every airbag deployed which nearly totaled the car with the cost to repair those. And to this day the damn interior panels don’t fit the same way and annoyingly rattle sometimes
We'll pay off our house the month before our oldest starts college (if he goes).Yeah, I am less than a year away from having no mortgage or car payments, and I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of the month before my wife makes us buy a new house or car.

We made mini pies, but this was my apple & strawberry pie. Also made a lemon curd pie.
Gonna be in HB on Wednesday night. Think I am gonna hit up RJ to grab some beers and lobster rolls with Monica.
It’s a symptom of our global economy where in first world countries it’s becoming more economically efficient to replace things instead of repair them because things have to be repaired here with expensive American labor, vs being replaced with something made there with much cheaper labor costs.I honestly can't believe your car just wasn't declared totaled from that tbh, feels like insurance companies these days are real quick on the draw to jump there
yeah but in this case so many of the cars are built in the US. like this one was built in Indiana and my Camry was built in Tennessee or something. It’s a symptom of our global economy where in first world countries it’s becoming more economically efficient to replace things instead of repair them because things have to be repaired here with expensive American labor, vs being replaced with something made there with much cheaper labor costs.
There’s certainly more economic nuance than I mentioned regarding global manufacturing, but the costs of repair work has absolutely skyrocketed in the past 10-20 years, and the reason for that is tightening economic efficiency. Car dealerships make very little profit margin in repair work, so they don’t financially support that part of their business, which leads to labor shortages - higher repair costs and crazy repair time estimates. Car insurance companies factor in those repair costs, and costs related to the time -car rentals, so it becomes more and more efficient for them to cut you a check rather than get your car repaired.yeah but in this case so many of the cars are built in the US. like this one was built in Indiana and my Camry was built in Tennessee or something.
