fence rider moving BuzzOut...

We have played one game this year with only 7 scholarship players healthy. That was the one we played last night.

I remember when fans used to look for the service that ranked our guys the highest. It seems now we are hunting down the service that ranks our guys the lowest.

ESPN has us at #15 and Scout has us at #13

Yeah with a 6 man class we better be ranked because we are out of ships and our competition will be adding players in the spring and late summer if they choose so the Nov. rankings will likely go down from here.

It's always hard for me to get a handle on these large classes because services rank them higher just because of numbers. I'd be curious how we would compare if you just used the top 4 recruits (afterall, you can't play 6 unless you count refs!). I don't think it would be as high as #13-15.

The recruiting world is changing as the top programs (well, Kentucky anyway) don't really have any idea how many scholarships will be available the next year until the middle of the season at the earliest so a lot of the elite recruits will hold out until they know whether or not UNC or Kentucky will actually have room.

14 of the Scout's Top 100 haven't committed yet and that seems much lower than it was last year at this time.

On Rivals we're not even in the Top 25, and if I'm not mistaken we're something like #6 or below just in the ACC. Weird.

ACC in the Rivals Top 25:

#4 - NCSU
#7 - UNC
#15- GT
#19- Florida St
#22- Virginia

Rivals only has CMM as a top 100 player and Moto as a top 150 player. We have three top 100 RSCIs.

Bzz' three star recruits have outplayed their ranking over the years. We'll see if it holds true with his higher rated recruits.

is this anecdotal based on alex burks or do you have some evidence to back this up. i'd love for it to be true but don't recall seeing anything like this before.

I made a lengthy post about it on the old boards, but it's pretty obvious if you look at the guys he brought into Colorado. The conclusion of the post was that Bzz's recruits at Colorado, without a single RSCI 100 guy, were as good and arguably better than Dino's, who were ranked much higher.

I'd say the 2011 class has outperformed as well.

How could you possibly come to that conclusion when only 2 of Dino's recruits ever played for Dino?

Buzz still hasn't landed an elite recruit. He has signed early and they have since "Blown up" to 4 stars. I wouldn't exactly call him a dynamic recruiter.

Moto was top 100 when he committed.

You forgot Konner Tucker.

I don't see how Dino would have made a significant difference on the ability of the 2010 class.

Counting Konner Tucker against Dino would be bonkers. He was a last second recruit to get more depth after Teague declared.

And, you're right, there probably wouldn't have been much of a difference, but it isn't a fair comparison. It's also kind of ridiculous to evaluate four year players after only one season. I would like to see your analysis, but it doesn't sound like it's of much merit with such a small sample size.

So now it's not whether or not we get an elite recruit, it's how we get him? Unbelieveabile. Perhaps a little credit could be given to see the potential in a recruit.

Well, we offered Tucker a scholarship, so I'd definitely count him.

Either way, the main point is that [Redacted] was able to put together a pretty solid group of players at Colorado without a single top 100 guy -- Burks and Higgins obviously stick out, but there were a bunch of other solid players there as well. Hopefully we'll see the same thing with some of the guys ranked 50-100.
