KanhojiAngre's Playground

I think you should view a good quote before further supporting a dude that admitted to calling another player a "negro" during the course of a heated football match.

I'm not defending either side and I don't condone racism, but the word that is used for black people in many languages is some derivative of "negro"

It's no use trying to talk to him. He doesn't see both sides of the argument and he hates Suarez already.

Notice how he hasn't said much of a peep about Terry who said things that ARE racially charged AND there is not dispute around it.

Negro = black. As Tim pointed out in another thread, negro was an OPTION on the last census. In Latin America, negro is the word for black. Tired of this shit. Love his FB picture too about kicking out racism.

Dude, if you change your facebook picture, racism will vanish. It's like that thread from the old boards about the breast cancer thing...

Similar to banning a guy for 8 games who wasn't really being racist gets rid of racism

How often do you go up to a black guy and call him a black guy to his face? Like, what was the point of him saying the word. I get the literal meaning, but even then why did he need to say it.

I don't. I am not Spanish though.

The thing is that is probably was not the right thing to say. Granted that doesn't mean you ban a guy 8 games to make a statement.

What the FA should have done is said: This was not a blatant case of racism but an issue nonetheless. 1-2 game ban for Suarez. Issue apology. State that in the future, this won't stand. There needs to be a cultural blending and education where everyone knows what is right and what is wrong.

Instead the FA just goes 8 games and says F off.

That's OK...the ridiculousness of the ban strengthens the case for a countersuit or appeal beyond the FA, ironically on discrimination grounds.

That is what I was thinking. In a counter suit I feel like discrimination against foreigners (South Americans) would come into play.

I love how you guys are trying to make Suarez out to be the victim here. Laughable.

And I've roasted Terry for what he said and I think what he said is far worse than what Suarez said. However, I still believe Suarez was attempting to get under Evra's skin with his comments. Nearly a 0% chance he was calling him a negro in a friendly way. Get serious.

The fact that Suarez changed his story multiple times should tell you that he at least understood that what he said is something he shouldn't have said and was just attempting to cover his own ass. And he still hasn't apologized for saying a word to Evra that obviously upset him repeatedly.

If he's being unfairly accused/convicted by the FA he is FAR more the victim than Evra's hurt feelings. And I'm sure nothing in the conversation by either of them was said in a friendly "hey old chap I love you!" way, that doesn't make it racist. And the caustic, obnoxious, and ridiculously absurd (Nazis in Uruguay for instance. Nothing about that is anywhere near relevant. The logical fallacies committed in that was impressive in number) way you are arguing it makes it so that in your head anyone disagreeing with you is crazy.

Merry Christmas though my Internet soccer talk friends.

Merry Christmas to you as well.

My point on the Nazis being harbored in Uruguay had more to do with their slack view of racial language than anything else. The fact that Uruguay has and continues (assuming they are alive) Nazi war criminals speaks volumes about how seriously we should take their views towards bigoted language, IMO.

Homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia. Would we really accept "cultural differences" as a valid excuse if a Saudi person used a homophobic slur towards an openly gay person?

Once again, if it was just a misunderstanding, then Suarez should have apologized from the start and explained where the mistake originated. Instead, he has changed his story multiple times in an effort to skirt the issue. No chance he is the victim in all this, unless he is the victim of his own ignorance and stupidity; that I could probably agree with.

I also believe that John Terry should get a longer ban than Suarez, as what he said was a lot worse and he has no argument of misunderstanding at all.

Maybe double the Suarez ban after he is hit with the fine from the prosecutors.

You mean the way England has dealt with Sharia Law?

Furthermore, that's still just not relevant at all. It's still homophobic to be homophobic. It's not racist to say something that's not racist

It's not just Uruguay, it's South America. I bet you were fuming about that Polynesian KFC commercial

OH! And going back to Kanhoji bringing Eric Cantona into this.

He attacked that fan because the fan made racial remarks towards him and Cantona went at him for it. Was it the "professional" thing to do? No. And SAF almost kicked Cantona out of the club, but after a long talk decided to give him another chance as Cantona was reacting to racial abuse.

Cantona literally tried to Kick Out Racism.

Evra took it as racist, that's all I know. You could tell watching the match that something was said that Evra took great offense to.

If Suarez didn't intend for it to be racially charged language then he should have apologized for any misunderstandings that occurred as a result of the words he used. He hasn't. Still, over 2 months later.

Racial remarks about France? Wasn't Cantona white?

He attacked Cantona's nationality and asked him to "fuck off back to France, you French bastard!" The guy also shouted at Cantona about his mother being a prostitute, but obviously in much harsher terms.

The Crystal Palace supporter, [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Matthew Simmons, was part of a racist group in England that wanted all foreigners out of the country. He had been and has since that incident been arrested for racial language.

And recently Simmons assaulted the coach of his son's youth soccer team. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...enies-assault-sons-football-team-manager.html //// http://www.ericcantona.com/2011/05/11/matthew-simmons-spared-jail-term/
