Add some glitter to give it a more golden appearance.

I think the "fight the power" Deacon up top does enough to state that it's the Wake Board. I wouldn't worry.

I was hesitant about coming over here, mostly because I thought Irish and DV7 were being huge douches over there before they got banned. I suppose that also shows the beauty of this board that I can say that about two mods and not worry about ban camp.

You can't necessarily do it with those in power, but you can work with posters.

Bring in one or two guys from there in a s mods to start. Maybe someone like Arlington or a couple of others.

As I said how it gets done (a new URL may not be needed) is not important. In any negotiation, you may not remember how you got where you got as long as you get there.

don't fall in love or hate with any specific as it's likely it's not going to happen that way anyway.

I understand some will say "black or white", but that's not reality. Maybe the URL idea sucks...no biggie....dn't sweat the small stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. I must have missed all the "principles" stuff.

agree to disagree, rj. I think they've gone above and beyond in creating and maintaining this board. If somebody from DS doesn't want to give it a shot to see that it's more than just "BzzOut!!! fuck shit piss!!!" then it's their fault.

If the hold outs aren't willing to check this board out to see if they like it, I can't see how a third board will lure them from DS.

IMHO, everybody's winning at this point.

I started thinking about starting a different forum while I was still posting over there acting a fool. I was just completely fed up with it all. The hypocrisy and unevenness of the moderator decisions, them treating posters like children, the super secret way you got info through PM after begging (which just looks like such an ego handjob to me, by the way,) and the constant laissez faire attitude towards trolls from other schools. Now, I shouldn't have taken it as far as I did by just becoming the uber-jackass, but what is done is done.

My resolve for really starting another board was when they perma-banned Irish for joking that if they didn't unban me in a week we would start a board of our own. That made me determined to make something happen.

Ok, last I'll say on the subject. Just wanted that out there.
 
RJ, what specifically would you do to rebrand this place as the one united site? New URL, new colors?

Some hold outs are not coming over here, no matter what they do. Do you really think adding a DS mod would help that much?

I realize people have the right to criticize Wellman. I am not denying them that. I happen to disagree with it and as I said before, it just bothers me. The guy is not infallable (sp?) but he has done a lot of great things of which you, me, and so many others have benefited from.

The guy made a gut call for a coaching change. I absolutely could not stand Dino Gaudio - he was not a good coach. I am willing to give Bzz a chance like so many others here and I will continue to support the team regardless of what happens next season or in 2013 and beyond.

I also agree with mebane - the polarization of the fan base BLOWS.

This is part of the problem for me. There are too many people who don't realize that many of the instigators are the ones defending the athletic department. I think people who believe that's the case are better off posting on those boards with other people who believe their job is to defend MSD.

I don't think it's "polarization". I think it's just different people with similar interest conducting them in different ways. No problem with that.

Fair enough. I think it will be tough to kick the impression that people have concerning why and how these boards were founded. But no worries. If you guys do a respectable job as mods it won't matter, it will all take care of itself as this becomes a better site. Just know that some people are pretty hesitant to sign up here because of that impression, and worry that you may run this board with the same reckless abandon that you posted with over your last few months on DS.
 
I never have and never will understand how a fan of a school finds it their personal responsibility to help defend that school's Ath Dept from a bad light. Isn't that the job of the Ath Dept itself?

Oh yeah, I get that. And it is something Irish and I discussed with the original mods here. All we can do is move on from that and be good and fair mods over here.

Time heals all wounds and all that.
 
Just give it time. People saw how DV7 left over there and just assumed it would be more of the same over here. Now, he and others have been very different posters over here and they've done a fantastic job putting this place together. But I do understand why people had the impression that they did. I think as things settle down (fewer potshots taken at each board by the other, etc) more people will come over.

I think there is probably another small subset who see this board's leadership having a "We're assholes and we're proud of it" vibe and that can be a turnoff. One of the best things you guys did was get people like tsy, tw and others to be active mods to sort of temper that. You'll never please everyone of course. But I do hope a couple more of the good posters make their way over here.
