Trustees are AWOL

I have also heard this. The BOT has been asked to consider giving Bzzz a contract extension because the program is on such solid ground and he just needs a little more time to turn the corner.

If this comes to fruition, I can only imagine the boards meltdown that would follow. It would be an absolute loony bin.

Why? Isn't a WFU bball contract extension tantamount to a Punxsutawney Coach not seeing his shadow? I.e. six more months of coaching

The statement from Wellman is factual. I don't know what he really thinks, but that is what was stated. I'm seriously depressed about it and have become convinced that there is no out to this through Wellman. The BOT is the only option over the near term.

Called it.

Please don't let [Redacted] get an extension even just for appearances sake after this season. I'll kill a hobo if that happens.

Come on. Do people actually believe this shit about Wellman? Really? Before this basketball debacle, he was widely considered as one of the top ADs in the country. Do people really think that he is legitimately, honestly, completely happy with where our basketball program is?

First I'll say I was a BzzzWait, now I'm a BzzOut.
I have to think Wellman is referencing the program from a "how do these kids represent the university" perspective. Let's face it there were quit a few kids on the team that not only caused some off the court embarrassment but also some that would have caused more if they stayed on the team. I think Wellman looks at this hire as a long term commitment. If there are a few sucky seasons that we must go through to become the class of the league again then so be it. In the mean time he's happy getting the trouble makers off the team and rebuilding using players that fans can be proud of off the court. Obviously it is going to be a while before Wake has great players off the court at the same time as great players on the court. Just a few years ago it was not uncommon for people posting on the boards about how other teams had thugs, cheaters, or had criminals on the team. Seems like we go our share, just all at once. I'm sure Wellman is trying to get the respect back, unfortunately it is at the expensive of the win column.
While I don't blame [Redacted] for ALL the problem I still don't think he is a good fit. I can't see the Joel back the way it was with Skip no matter how good this team becomes. Just my opinion.

He was a Wake Forest fan.

I imagine some of the Trustees were in the move to fire Dino and hire Bzz.

lol. Unless we have Trustees who were also buddy buddy with Wellman and Buzzzzz I doubt they would have been in on the move. The more likely scenario is that they stood behind Wellman on the move. And they aren't going to give him less than 3 years to prove he was right with Bzzz. So get strapped in.

Like the trustees care more about buildings than coaches.

Big money donors were behind firing Dino; they raised the funds for that. I'm pretty sure [Redacted] had to be sold to them as a long-term replacement. I think last year was a "throw away" in many eyes. But this year, with how it has gone into the shitter, is going to be a lot harder for Mr. Wellman to explain to the men that write the checks.

Good luck, Ronald.

The incoming class is going to buy him a year. We all know that.

Yep.
RW is not happy, but he is stubborn and not one to doubt himself. Bz is here for at least a year unless he (or Nina) pulls the plug.
The BOT is nowhere near usurping RW's authority at this time.

Well then, it seems clear the only way to get Bzzz to leave is for him to quit.

Do your worst, proletariat.

Not sure how the incoming class doesn't buy him two years. "But they're young" next year definitely gives him another year.

If we lose our remaining games in the same fashion we lost to Clemson (and, folks, Clemson ain't that good), then I really think he will be gone this year. Otherwise, the keys to next year will be to have an overall record over 0.500, to finish 9th or better in the ACC, and to not get embarrassingly blown out more than two-three times.

As long as he achieves those benchmarks then I think he will get year 4 for the following reasons: the youth excuse remains (three years in a row, remarkable), the ACC will be better (or at least deeper), and the schedule will be tougher (18 game ACC schedule).

Losing by less than 10 next year will buy him another year. Buzz has outplayed George Walker Bush in the expectations game, which is quite the impressive feat.

If the team quits on him for the rest of the season then he should be let go.If he gets to come back and the team performs up to standards then we should be middle of the road. Then the following season would project to a possible NCAA bid. Personally, I don't intend to make that journey and hope he will be replaced now.
