Blitch to UNCC

I'm not sure why anyone would love being an offensive lineman...Seems like the worst job in sports except for the rare time you get to house somebody on a sweep or an interception.

I don't know, OL have longer NFL careers than skill players and their incomes, while once far behind those of WRs and RBs, are quickly catching up...especially if you're a LT.

If your talent and body suits you for the OL and you love the game, you would love the OL. This whole thread shows that OL is not unappreciated.

Fat guy= tough time getting some, Fat guy that is a football player= easier time getting some

Thought, isn't the walk on NG Dunmeyer still on the team? I wonder if they will move him to OL for an extra body over there? He's big enough to play that side if we got desperate enough.

Wake can be tough socially as well. Hope he changes his mind and returns.

Sorry to see Bllitch go. Wake is also a tough academic school let alone the rigors of D-1 football and if he wasn't happy as per Grobe, then it's best that he try to find a better fit somewhere else.

Thankfully, my son will soon start his Junior year at MSD, and he loves it! In fact, I'm now told that I'm likely in for 7 years total Wake tuiton bills including Wake Law!

We were actually parked in the same lot as Rulz at the Music City Bowl and that man really knew how to tailgate!

We tailgated right beside RULZ at the bowl game in Nashville. Seemed like a great group of people. Hate to see Daniel go, but if he wasn't happy it's probably for the best....

Yep. LT for a right handed QB is the 2nd highest paid position.

Complacent -

Also have 3 true frosh - Hayworth most likely to play if the above 12 guys cannot get the job done. We usually play 6, 7 maybe 8 guys per game. Grobe is looking for a starting rotation and maybe 2 other guys who can play.

It was usually 6 last season....hence why the near total inexperience on the OL.

With the possible exception of C, we have a patchwork collection of 'guys' on the line. Nice kids but not one who is an at present threat for All-ACC. What's extremely disconcerting to me was that last year's OL was Senior / returning starter dominated and still wasn't much above 'average' if not 'below average' when sacks allowed were factored into the grading....and several of these returning projected starters weren't reliable/good enough to even get in let alone sniff starting !

If this was Olympic weightlifting, a Worlds Strongest Man or a Body Building competition, Summers would pass the eye test. But can he move/use his strength athletically with quick feet/positioning for 60 minutes over 12 games ? His limited participation as a reserve / spot starter last season wasn't enough for me to judge with some degree of confidence.

Fingers / toes crossed - until further review 2-3 games in.

1- Chase --- Ford --- Williams --- Souza --- Summers

2- Bolling --- Preble --- Irby is playing center -- Goodwin I guess -- Intemann

3rd team: Barnes (11th guy), maybe Booi, emergency 3rd string center is 6'5 250 long snapper. Keep in mind 6'2 250 is usually the approximate size of Navy's center and they like to beat WFU.

Key is inexperience and ability - not so much having enough bodies. We have 11-16 bodies for the OL.

Working on an article now highlighting the offensive line. Barnes is actually listed as a center on the 2012 roster. Irby will likely be the backup center, but I expect Barnes would be 3rd string before we brought in the Feimster.

From the other board:

Would have been classier if his son had been man enough to leave in the spring if he wasn't happy instead of wasting the coaches time and energy that could have been used developing another player. Quitting after a day of camp. Shameful.

Come on down to Charlotte and play for Jim Grobe's more reasonable side -- Coach Lambert. Be a part of something. Build with us. We need you and we're not elitists! You'll be 75 minutes closer to home. Unfortunately, you probably won't get to face your former teammates if you come to Charlotte because they're too chickenshit to play us.
