I imagine you're in a similar boat Phan, but nothing off the rack fits me. I'm like 34x36 pants (even that could be like 33x36) and I'm a 15x46/47 shirt. They don't make those.

Park and Bond is actually getting shut down (or I guess merged with Gilt Man).

"phan needs a denim tent"

i'm like 38-36 and 17.5-37.5 (sleeves, chest is 46) shirts.

I like that coat, Bojangle. We have a nice little outdoor shop down the street that sells Barbour. Cool place.

I was joking with Go. Peacoats have been worn by men since the late 1800s.

I thought peacoats were for women, I always called that kind of coat a sailor's coat?

We went into the Barbour store in Edinburgh. I was in heaven, too bad I'm poor.

ok ladies, working off of the website that dashionista posted in the girl thread.

what do you think are the ESSENTIALS for jewelry? i know most people have like 1230958203958 pairs of earrings (i personally have 2, and i don't even wear 1 of those 2). but what do you think you actually almost HAVE to have?

here is the list that the website had:

diamond stud earrings
white pearl stud earrings
hoop earrings
fun earrings
dressy dangle earrings
pearl necklace
diamond pendant necklace
statement necklace
metal chain bracelet
metal dress watch
cocktail ring

i was very bad during lunch. very very bad. i popped into tj maxx to kill 20 minutes and told myself i wouldn't even try on anything because i simply didn't have time. of course the first thing i laid eyes on were perfect dark red cords. in my size. it was a sign. on the way into the dressing room i may or may not have grabbed an adorable off-white lacey top with 3/4 length sleeves that just so happened to sit at the absolute perfect length (i needed something to try the cords on with! i'm in a dress today). and when i saw a vivienne tam navy blazer with just the right amount of edge to it, i had to at leeeeast try it on.

oops.

(at least i successfully ignored the full rack of kate spade new arrivals!)

eh, i agree w/ everything except the bracelet and the ring, mostly because i do a lot with my hands/arms and can't stand wearing them if i don't need to. i feel like unless you're married, there is no "essential" ring. personal opinion.
i don't like bracelets because i hate things dangling around my hands (i have very small wrists, so bracelets rarely stay around my wrist). the only bracelets i can stand are ones that are tight enough to where you'd get a tanline from them if you wore them in the sun... but these are typically not dress (my examples: bandana bracelets, macrame things you tie on, livestrong band)
as for the earrings/necklaces, yeah- i think they're on point. i don't know if i'd call a diamond pendant necklace an ESSENTIAL, but it's not a bad thing to own.

long statement necklace (like with a pendant in a fun color), short statement necklace, in a different fun color. if the long is silver-based, then vary it up and get a gold-based shorter necklace. i'm a necklace fiend though and have at least 7-8 statement necklaces (easy way to make a plain shirt/dress more fun without the bulkiness of a scarf)

I agree with the necklaces...and that is the only type of jewelry that I wear on a regular basis (besides my wedding & engagement rings). If I had pierced ears, I could see the diamond stud, white pearl stud & hoop earrings as essentials. I have a metal dress watch but haven't worn it in over 6 years (when the battery died). These days I don't see a watch as being essential since pretty much everyone uses their cellphone to check the time.

agree that i don't like bracelets at all. i'm debating on the ring. i personally haven't worn rings in a few years (i somehow managed to lose the last nice one i had, and i've just never replaced it), but i've started to feel like my fingers are pretty blah. i'm thinking about getting a ring, not to wear to work or anything, but just to wear out.
