Best Stand Up Comedians/Performances

I find that a lot of comedians (Eddie Murphy especially) you really need to see to get the full effect.

Agreed. Take physical comedy out of it, and Ced doesn't make my list.

For the current guys, somebody mentioned Jim Gaffigan - he is great. Eddie Izzard cracks me up too. Agree with everyone on Louis CK.

For some reason Dmetri Martin cracks me up - but he is another visual guy because of his deadpan humor.

I like Martin a lot. I really enjoyed Words Words Words by Bo Burnham.
 
Can't believe I left out Gaffigan. Saw him at the Warner Theater a few months ago (he was filming his newest special). He destroyed, and then came out for an encore where he did all his Hot Pockets bits.

i think the hot pockets bits are awful. i liked the rest of that special, but the last one (i guess prior to the one he just filmed) was way too much of his "person in crowd thinking voice." got to be a bit much imo.
 
CK belongs on the Mt. Rushmore. He comes up with 60 minutes of brilliant material every damn year. He's a genius.
 
i like aziz more than ck of current standup guys, but the point about the amount of ck material he puts out is insane. i just love aziz's schtick.
 
I like CK, I'm getting tired of everyone going on and on about him though
 
Can't believe no one had mentioned Patton Oswalt yet.
 
Current favorites are Louis Black, Louis CK, Ricky Gervais and Jim Jefferies. Surprised no one has mentioned Louis Black or Ricky.
