Thursday's Debate: Discussion Thread

If the only criticism of Biden is his laughing and smiling too much, you didn't win the substance argument.

So by showing how week Obama was....it's going to make him win? Hard to follow that.

By showing him the correct strategy. Obama flopped because he didn't engage, didn't attack, didn't go after the plentiful weak spots of his opponent, specifically, and didn't fact check Romney on the spot. He played a weak prevent and got burned. He never made Romney sweat. I highly doubt he'll be so passive again.

This debate was a whole lot of suckage. Per CNN's poll of registered voters Ryan shaded it. 48-44 on who won to Ryan. Ryan also had more people affirm he's qualified to be President. Ryan more likable (not shocking). Biden in a landslide for being on the attack more (not shocking). Neither side just crushed the other.

To me it seemed like it was pretty much a wash.

I don't think this debate changes much of anything save it did to me again frame the question for Obama to make a case why he should be re-elected. Because just as with the first debate the GOP got more points for ideas to move the country forward.

Tuesday looms large.

Hannity is going after Biden for being rude.

hehehehehe. Priceless.

I won the debate because I was nicer.

Of likely voters. Both bases liked their guy better.

The CBS poll of only undecided had it Biden 50, Ryan 31.

If I'm handicapping the race, I'm really only interested in undecideds. Let's hope more polls are coming of that group to get a fuller picture.

I take it to mean the VP debate means nothing. Two more presidential debates on the other hand have consequence.

Thanks for that. I didn't realize that CNN had that poll. Appreciate your sharing.

BTW, Sean Hannity calling anyone condescending, frequently interupting, and rude is fucking hilarious.

And like the sun rises in the East, he and the RNC leader are already floating the idea something was wrong with Biden tonight, we don't know what, but it's definitely sketchy...just saying...

Agreed. And Biden just showed Obama how to beat Romney. Call him out, and don't stop doing it. The next debate is going to be a very different affair, I would think.

Town hall format might make it more difficult for Obama to go on the attack, but point taken. I think the race is over but I will be the first to admit I'm wrong in November.

I agree with every word of this post, but on obviously different terms on the backend.

Biden really wasted a golden opportunity tonight...if he backs off the snarkiness and rude behavior, he wins this debate going away and gets Obama back decisively in the lead...instead Biden acts so rudely that his message is totally lost and to the average viewer, there isn't a clear victor. Romney catches another stroke of good luck-if Obama was on his game last week this race might be over and now tonight Biden had a clear win in his grasp and stupidly let it go...this race is still not settled...
