If you could do an ESPN 30 for 30, what would it be?

That was what it was mostly about. That was the second one I think.

Sort of, it was told in the afterglow/shadow of that era. That one was more about minutia than some of the others.

There hasn't been one about 9/11, right? That would be interesting, or just have that be part of a larger narrative about patriotism and sports in America.

Ok. I remember interviews with Oilers fans and lots of clips from that era in the first part. Of course the whole thing was just dude sucking off Gretzky.

Either way, a pure focus would be redundant.

Agreed.

They should do one about Jon Abbate. Maybe mix up the 30 for 30 formula a bit by having some dramatic reenactments and find some H-list celebrities to star. An inspirational, Celene Dion-esque soundtrack would be a nice touch.

"How I Fooled Everyone in The Room...." -- The story of Steed Lobotszke

Jimmy Winkfield, he was a black jockey who won two KY Derbies. He was then blacklisted by August Belmont. This led him to be the jockey and trainer for Czar Nicholas II. He literally led many the czar's horses to Poland to avoid the revolution. He continued as a trainer for another fifty years.

This actually sounds legitimately fascinating. I would watch this.

not trying to haas you because I like the thread, but we have already had this thread. For some reason I can't search for the terms "30", "30 for", or "30 for 30". Search function broken?

I didn't realize the documentaries were only of the ESPN life span. It's a great story that needs to be retold. I am not sure there is much footage. It would certainly be difficult.

They have indeed expanded the scope of the 30 for 30s beyond the ESPN lifespan.
