    Wake Golf 2024 - Women’s ACC Tournament April 18-21; Men's ACCT April 19-22

That was a "kiss your sister" way to win. But in this case, your sister is pretty good looking.

    Wake Golf 2024 - Women’s ACC Tournament April 18-21; Men's ACCT April 19-22

FSU noncounting scores were +7, GT +14, and Wake +17. Wake gets 4th seed (and UNC), if I did the math right. Colin Adams' double bogey on 18 turns out to have hurt, along with every other double bogey in the tournament. One stroke out of second place. Brennan ties for the championship. I am...

2024 Wake Baseball Thread: What Did We Do To Deserve This?

T-shirt looks like Nick fouled that ball off. Or maybe Spiderman grabbed it with his web.

Can't blame the players at all. If transfers lose credits and don't get a degree, they should have made enough money to reach into their pockets, write a check to their local state university, and finish their degree online. Certainly can't blame Hunter Sallis for going pro. Couldn't blame...

Hartle at about 95 pitches. This is probably his last batter.

Probably his best outing of the year. Getting better for each of the past 3 starts. 82 pitches so far, 3 hits, 2 walks, 7 K. Most important 0 runs.

2024 Wake Baseball Thread: What Did We Do To Deserve This?

Not just the top half of R1--all of R1, probably extending through R2 for any high school player. Does anyone here believe Wake NIL can afford $3,000,000 for one baseball player??? Minor league conditions may suck, but they are alot more tolerable for an 18-20 yo with a couple of million...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

I used to watch A LOT of baseball. It is still probably my favorite. I've just sort of drifted away from MLB, in part because of labor disputes. Never have been a big NBA fan. I would follow certain players more than teams. Tried to get into the Hornets, but never really could. Then they...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

This is it exactly for me. I haven't watched more than 1 inning of MLB in a couple of years, barely pay attention to the NBA (other than sort of being aware of how Wake alum are doing) and tune into a few minutes of the Panthers' games only sporadically. I feel no allegiance to any of them and...

2024 Wake Baseball Thread: What Did We Do To Deserve This?

I was a bit dogmatic in counting the number of good pitchers needed to win. But the point remains that tournament baseball tends to reward pitching depth. Wake had excellent pitching depth last year and was somewhat unlucky not to be rewarded. Pitching depth has not been as good this year...

2024 Wake Baseball Thread: What Did We Do To Deserve This?

Tournament baseball is all about pitching, especially depth of pitching. The old adage holds true - you are as good as tomorrow's pitcher. Last year's team, with a little luck (or perhaps with a little less bad luck) could have won. In addition to excellent gloves at all infield positions and...

2024 Wake Baseball Thread: What Did We Do To Deserve This?

I had to look up wOBA to know what it is and how it is calculated. I guess I get why non-intentional base on balls enters into the calculation and intentional base on balls does not. I think I also understand why a single counts more than a non-intentional walk. Someone will have to explain...

Again, if AJ Storr is valued at >$750,000 it speaks directly to a society that grossly overvalues its entertainers and its chief corporate executives. Would I rather give $350,000 to fund Boopie Miller for one year, or pay for the entire cost of a Wake Forest education for one student? Would I...

WFU Hoops: '24-'25 Roster Construction Thread: (-) Carr, Monsanto, Ituka, Clark, Miller, Marsh, Keller, Canka / (+) Spillers, Biliew, Cosby

There is something wrong with a society that values a mediocre D1 point guard at $400,000 and a high school teacher with 5 years of experience at $40,000.

I believe Marsh's defensive ability is similarly undervalued by many here largely because DJ Burns torched him last year. DJ Burns also lit up all-ACC defensive first team Armando Bacot in the recent ACC championship game. Again, Marsh may not be a great defender, but he is not terrible either.

Marsh is SECOND on the team in rebounds per minute played at 0.228. Reid is first at 0.285 and Carr third at 0.207. Everyone else is below 0.2 rebounds per minute. For further reference: MMM 0.186, Keller 0.183, Monsanto 0.175, and Hildreth 0.136. 70% of Marsh's rebounds this year have been...

    Hunter Sallis

Better comparison is junior year Josh Howard. Senior year Josh Howard did anything and everything the team needed done on offense or defense. He was a dominant scorer and always defended the other team's best wing. He was a lock-down defender which Sallis is not. Very few Wake players have had...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

There is certainly a size when a conference becomes too big. The Southern Conference was about 25 when the original SEC left and about 20 when the original 7 left to create the ACC.
