Can anyone explain how Dybala doesn't get on the field for this Argentina squad?

Argentina is fucked.

Iceland win tomorrow, Croatia-Iceland play out a turgid draw and both advance.
Iceland draw tomorrow, Croatia are guaranteed group winners so they rest dudes, Iceland beat them and both advance.
Iceland lose narrowly tomorrow, and Iceland have better goal diff so Arg still in a world of trouble.

Looks like an early exit for yet another South Am team

I'm impressed that Modric and Lovren's legal troubles seemed to have had no affect on their performances. More so Lovren, since he has demonstrated at times in the past to have the intestinal fortitude of a fainting goat.

I mean, even less so after a good showing in the WC, what are the chances they serve any time?

That has to be the most challenged math analyzing their situation ever.

1 - If Iceland win tomorrow Argentina is out. The Croatia Iceland game won't matter. Iceland will have four points and Argentina can only get to 3.

2 - A draw is bad but not fatal.

3 - If Iceland lose narrowly tomorrow they'll actually have to play to beat Croatia to assure they advance and Croatia will be playing to at least get a draw. Keep in mind the idea of Iceland needing a win to advance means they'll not pack it in on the back line. Makes for a different game.

But after watching that midfield disaster today, do you really think the Argies are going to pummel Nigeria? They are done.

Arg has a point, so if they win, they can get to 4.

Not saying they are going to magically discover a midfield in the next few days, but the math is possible to end up at 4.

1 + 3 = 4 really isn’t that challenging...

He plays basically the same position as Messi. Argentina has too many forwards that all play the same position, and their midfield is a FEMA Disaster Zone.

I was hoping to see more of Lo Celso and figured they'd throw him in yesterday instead of subbing in forwards for forwards.
