Educate a cap idiot - how can it be both freeing up $7M but also giving us a $14M cap hit? Is the dead money next season?
$14.7M is what would've owed him this season if we designated him a pre-June 1 cut, but we did not. He's post-June 1 so we owe him $4.9M in dead money, a $7.25M savings on his original $12.15M cap hit.
But yes, we owe him $4.9M over the next three years which adds up to $14.7M in total.
