2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

At the risk of parsing something that doesn't need to be parsed when he says it "originally" was not a climate change thing at all, we have no idea when that "originally" was. Could've been when they first started putting it together or what - do you have any insight into that with citations? But what we do know is that it they branded it the "Green New Deal" so again, regardless of what AOC's staff who wrote the deal says, the deal was certainly "about" climate change (given the "Green" portion). And I'm not saying that the idea wasn't informed by more social democracy/socialist tendencies for the economy (given....the "New Deal" portion and knowing what the New Deal was) but I'm rejecting that "change the entire economy" means overhaul the market system in favor of a totally government controlled socialist's dream.

The gymnastics here is completely unbelievable. Nothing means anything anymore.

Whatever anybody says means exactly what I want it to say.

Townie, your presence is requested.

Regardless of this discussion, anyone else think that modern day conservatives or libertarians [sic] would've been in favor of the New Deal when drafted - even though a large portion of the ideas are considered bedrocks of governance today? I also wonder how differently "do you support Medicare" and "do you support socialized medicine for people once they reach a certain age" would poll even today.

I guess "economic mobilization" sounds a lot like socialism if you're sitting on top of the economic ladder

catamount puts on his clothes in the morning and says “The interesting thing about clothing is it wasn’t originally a fashion thing at all. Do you guys think of it as a fashion thing? Because I really think of it as a how-do-I-protect-my-body-from-weather thing.”

Learn how adjectives and nouns work.

Green = adjective
New Deal = noun

If you put on a blue shirt, I wouldn’t be surprised you put on a shirt.

This is a great post. Nice work.

Wrong, nuclear is safe, cheap, and effective.

I'm actually pretty pro-nuclear, not because it is cheap and safe, it's not, but because any problems that arise from a nuclear power plant are generally pretty localized or at worst regional. Japan had an awful nuclear disaster just a few years ago after the tsunami at the Fukashima plant. It sucked and the problem will persist for centuries but that melt down (or what ever it is termed) won't affect the global environment in any meaningful way. So go nuclear and be careful.

LOL. Yeah. That's been discussed especially since they're both young Hoosiers who look even younger than they really are.

Is Biden the Bz of the Dem field?

I'd say he's more like Manning. Looked pretty good on paper, lives off of past accomplishments, completely aloof in front of the camera, and their performance will likely disappoint you in the future.

Biden is a lot of things. Aloof isn't one of them.

I wonder what it would take for Biden to name Stacey Adams his running mate during the primaries.
