2022 Atlanta Braves Season Thread: off season decisions loom

One goddamn hit?

Apparently, that sets an MLB record for fewest hits in a DH: https://twitter.com/ESPNStatsInfo/status/1386449911936339970?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1386449911936339970%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.chicagotribune.com%2Fsports%2Fbreaking%2Fct-madison-bumgarner-unofficial-no-hitter-20210425-aatya7azybeevo5iggcqwk7kwi-story.html

Of course, now that MLB made the stupid decision to limit doubleheaders to 7 innings like D3 college baseball, the stats aren't really comparable because the previous record was set when teams treated doubleheader games like every other game on the schedule and played 9 innings. Even so, 1 hit in two games against the D'backs seems impossibly bad.

Season is not going according to plan. TDA likely to be out extended time now.

Bullpen and the offense are getting a lot of the blame but the starting pitching has been awful. Hopefully things get better once Soroka and Fried are back.

Braves are DFL in the MLB in ERA and in HRs allowed.

I am trying to figure out if/when Jared Shuster will be starting for the Rome Braves vs. the Dash this week. The preview on the website still says TBD, anybody know how to figure that out?

The offense has been unlucky but the Contreras/Mathis, Pache, Pitcher could be really awful. Fried set to return this week and hopefully in 2020 form. Martin needs to return and stay healthy, as he is the only reliable RHP in what has proven to be a glaring hole for the pen.

Rome rotation:

5/4: Bryce Elder
5/5: Tanner Gordon
5/6: Ricky DeVito
5/7: Jared Shuster (Friday)
5/8: Alan Rangel

I think Contreras will be fine offensively while TdA is out

edit to add: I think the Pitcher spot will be fine offensively as long as it's Ynoa

Just hit Gregorius. He deserves it for that throw.

That really was crazy, talk about a rollercoaster. 1-2 count nobody on 2 outs down 2 bottom 9th, then another 2 strike count to the next hitter and he goes yard to send it to extras. Braves load the bases 1 out and don't score, then give up a run on a double with nobody out before getting a double play and pop-out to avoid more. Get a tying run on a wild throw next inning. Then bases loaded nobody out Harper grounds into an easy double play but Webb throws it to the backstop and melts down, doesn't cover. Then a walk on a 10 pitch at-bat, a single to load the bases, a bases-clearing double to tie, and the Braves win it without the Phillies even recording an out in the bottom of the 12th.
