Another School Shooting

If all the students and teachers had been armed it wouldn't have happened. It's science.

see ya'll tomorrow at the Eastern National Gun Show tomorrow in Harrisburg!

These things don't even make headlines any more. First step is becoming immune. Second step is tolerating.

According to the Sheriff's department, a student arrived at the school with a shotgun looking for a specific teacher. That teacher fled the scene. The gunman was confronted by a second student who he then shot. The suspected gunman–a student at the school–has been found dead apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The student who was shot has been transported to a hospital.

It is no longer an active situation.

WTF is up with Colorado? You would think the weed and Peyton Manning would have them loving the happy times.

Colorado and Oregon have a ton of rednecks

Kid was a religious socialist apparently.

Who cares?

The reality is we need to have real common sense gun laws. The problem is Congress is a bunch of cowards.

Which law? This wasn't an issue of magazine limits or semi automatic "assault rifles".

yup. unless it comes out the guy had documented mental health issues there is nothing you can do about an adult buying a shotgun.

It's not about this specific shooting. Here are few laws that would not infringe at all on the right to keep and bear arms:

1. Background check on every sale or transfer of ownership of any gun, rifle or other firearm. Severe penalties for those who don't comply.
2. No sales of magazine larger than 15 shots. A one grace period to turn in all magazines that are larger.
3. No purchase of more than three guns at a time with exceptions given to security companies, PDs, etc., as well an exemption for historical collections.

The mental health issue is more difficult.

There's also no reason not to compel every gun owner to have liability insurance,

If it is not about the specific shooting, and your goal is to save lives, let's lower the speed limit to 55 and let's completely ban alcohol. Severe penalties for those who don't comply. There is no reason not to compel every alcohol manufacturer to have liability insurance, either.

Typical gun side nonsense, You have to have homeowners insurance in case something happens on your property. You must have car insurance to drive your car.

What's your legitimate excuse for not having insurance?

What's your legitimate excuse for not doing background checks every sale or transfer?

You don't have to have homeowners insurance by law.

That said I'd support insurance on guns.

Unless I am mistaken, you are leaning toward holding lawful gun manufacturers liable for someone else's unlawful use of their product. That would be like holding Ford or a brewery responsible for someone driving drunk.

My "legitimate" excuse for not wanting your list of restrictions is my preference for individual liberties. I also don't want people telling me I have to drive 55 mph or that I can't drink alcohol. Nor do I want other people telling me which of my interests are "legitimate" or whether I "need" to do something I might want to do.

But again, if your goal is saving lives, what is your "legitimate" excuse for allowing alcohol sales? And under your reasoning, shouldn't alcohol manufactures be held legally responsible for the damages caused by abuse of alcohol?

You are currently told not to drive over 55 mph, in lots of places.

ETA: Also, he's not talking about holding gun manufacturers liable, he's talking about holding gun owners liable.
