I'll be in Las Vegas in about 2 weeks for one or two nights by myself. I've never been there before and am not much of a gambler. Also not interested in going to a show by myself. I'd be interested in any restaurant recommendations too but probably more of the "worlds largest burrito" variety than a high end restaurant. So other than the obvious, any suggestions for a first time visitor going without the family?

very helpful!! I'll see if I can change my flight!

I love Bouchon at the Venetian. It is a nice place though. Down by Freemont Street is the Heart Attack Grill, which is famous for giving fatties free food (eat for free if you're > 300lbs).

The first time I went, I was alone (which sucks). I saw 2 shows and had nice dinners.

If you can sit through a show alone, I *HIGHLY* recommend Absinthe.

So you're asking for advice in Vegas for someone who:

(a) Doesn't gamble
(b) Doesn't want to go to shows
(c) Has a family, so probably doesn't want the company of ladies

Maybe the Pinball Hall of Fame? Take a helicopter to the Grand Canyon? Would you spend the day at a spa or something?

There aren't many gimmick restaurants left. Almost everything is high end.

Where are you staying?

Just to be clear, I'll gamble some but I'm not looking to live in the casino the whole time I'm there or blow a bunch of money. And not interested in a companion for the night. And since I'll be there myself I'm looking for options that may be good for a guy on his own (not sure I want to go to a nice restaurant and/or show on my own). So that's why I'm soliciting ideas.

And I'm staying at Aria.

usually higher end restaurants are very accommodating to single diners

If you don't want to gamble a ton and want to do something, you'll need to suck it up like I did and do some stuff on your own.

I was in the Aria in November and it's a nice hotel. The only restaurant I went to in the hotel was the pub, but it wasn't bad and had a great beer selection.

From the Aria, there's a short connection through Vdara to get to the Bellagio, which has an art gallery you can visit.

Yes. I never felt creepy being by myself. The waiters were very good with conversation.

I did feel too creeped out to see Cirque Zumanity by myself.

Eat at a place called "First" in the Venetian. It's Gourmet Bar Food. They have world famous " Doritos Mac n cheese" if your into that kind of thing. Also, you should gamble small amounts on nickel slot machines while your there to get your feel.

Try Piero's. You can get a full dinner in the bar.lounge.

Working during the day? Try to make it out to Red Rocks Canyon.

Its a high-end place but absolutely 100% go to strip steak in Mandalay Bay. They have these truffle duck fat fries which they give to everyone for free as an appetizer that are so good that you'll be blown away by how good french fries will taste. Perhaps you can get them sitting at the bar without making a whole full on order, or you could just get a crazy good steak as well.

Most fun place to go on your own would be the dueling piano bar at new york new york. Its crowded enough that you won't feel awkward, I've done it solo tons of times, and its always a fantastic time.

Ya don't need to get hookers, but ending up at the Rhino is never a bad idea. Girls fly in all over the country to work there, just sit there and watch if you don't want to spend money. Tittays.

Spend time at the spa and get yourself a massage then just lounge around during some day.

Go over to Margaritaville, play $10 pai gow for a few hours, drink for free, and leave up or down like 40-50 bucks. The chicks wear bikinis, so maybe you'll catch a hottie?

My guess is this thread is for his wife to read.

Fatt will be elbows deep in hookers and blow.

Exactly. "Dont want to be in the casino all night" = "I am clearly saving my $ for hookers and blow, where can I get a large burrito to fuel my tank before I dont eat for 48 hours."

In and Out Burger

Find video Blackjack. Cheap and easy to rack up some $$$.

Is there an In and Out on the strip? I've never seen it if so.
