So, I have procrastinated too long on getting these applications in. Unfortunately, Wake is out of the picture for me.

My question is if anyone has tips or anything to help make the process quicker or anything that may help me

Thanks in advance

To echo awakeknight, my brother went to the University of Silas Creek, graduated in two years and as a machinist makes just slightly less than I do.

Dude, straight up...consider a two year technical school to become a Plumber, Electrician or HVAC specialist.

If you have ANY entrepreneurial spirit in you, you can be making seven figures in 10 years.

You could be lazy and avoid the schools that make you write essays longer than a page or two.

Not that I did that or anything...

First, no shame in Wake being out of the picture. Get rid of that line of thinking. May be personally disappointing but no one here will (or should) judge you for that. Think of yourself as a Wake missionary: go forth and convert your classmates to the Wake Nation.

Second- Best advice:

It's not about where you go. It's about what you do once you're there.

Great advice. Very, very true. I'm a Wake grad who went to a state school for law school and I have some classmates who went to schools I've never even heard of yet were at the top of the class. With the right attitude, you can pretty much get an education anywhere. Just be proactive about learning as much as you can from the get go. Don't "wait your turn" at the college level - as soon as you step on campus, immerse yourself in your course load.

Wish I had taken a year off between high school and college; it would have given me much more direction once I was enrolled. If that's feasible for you and you aren't quite sure what you want to study, I would strongly recommend talking to your parents/mentors/favorite board posters about it.

applied to UNCW today. When my dad got home from work, I told him and he said let me make a call. He called Jerry Wainwright, former DePaul head coach, and his wife has affiliations with UNCW, so thatr could come into play in terms of me getting accepted or not.

PS: nice tags people...

Go to a really cheap crappy academic school. Dominate the other idiots who go there and leave at the top of the class with no loans.

You'll be much better off.

Lol@ 7 figures although it's a good option, don't expect 7 figures that's just silly. I called my brother who is an hvac specialist and he knows several electricians and plumbers, he is going to let me know if they make 7 figures.

Join the Army or Navy, save money, get GI bill, and then go to college when you're serious about it.

Seriously.

I routinely pay near $100k (and would gladly pay more) for certain skill sets, and don't even consider whether they ever stepped foot in a college.

Programming/Development, Interfacing, Database Engineers, Etc. The demand is ridiculously high right now. Forget college and learn how to do something real.

:werd: I'd add make sure the crappy school has a favorable male:female ratio

Joining the service would be a neat idea I think. I have always had that idea in the back of my mind.
