Army is close to joining the AAC as a football only member in 2024. According to ESPN their annual game with Navy will remain intact. Their November game with Air Force in 2024 is also scheduled to remain intact. But the bottom line is that they'll need to move or cancel FIVE of the following SEVEN games which would be considered non-conference if they were in the AAC in 2024.

8/31: at Ball St
9/07: at UConn
9/21: Syracuse
9/28: Dartmouth
10/19: at UNLV
11/09: at UMass
11/16: Wake Forest

Looking at their 2024 schedule I can't imagine they wouldn't want to keep the home game vs in-state team Syracuse intact... that one is huge for their fans and it's a great road trip for Cuse fans. UConn and Umass played at Army this season so they prob have higher priority than us.

Hopefully get us out of there. I hate playing Army. That said, though, I can't imagine they don't just drop the five non-ACC games since they just get to host Wake and Cuse lol

Pretty sure that Army will want to keep the Dartmouth game. Elementary for almost every team to schedule one automatic win to avoid any chance of a winless season if everything goes sideways. Army has played at least one FCS team a year for a long time. WF is already anticipating playing a road game to replace Army; let's play UNLV at Allegiant Stadium on October 19th. 22890 and I will meet everyone at the Sportsbook.

Allegacy/Allegiant, we’ll feel right at home.

I was at the @Army game in 2021 and it was an amazing gameday atmosphere. Plus it was a track meet / very exciting game. I would have definitely gone back in 2023 if the game wasn't in NOVEMBER.

I actually love this idea. Work with Army on just getting out of the game we have with them in November and we help them kill 2 birds with 1 stone by scheduling a home and away with UNLV - filling the Army commitment for them in 2024 and then hosting UNLV at some point down the line. UNLV was GAAAARBAGE last year but they're 6-1 in 2023 so far. Big game vs Fresno State this weekend.

Yeah if we play Army still I'll be there next year. I'd just rather not play them. Plus that area in November...that's a no dawg

I was glad to get to go to Wake-Army in West Point in 1999. But I don't care if we ever play them again.

Yeah. This is a great idea. Buddie and work with Currie so Wake can take over both UNLV dates and lower the Army buyout to both. That would give us Wake at UNLV on 10/19/24 and UNLV at Wake on 10/7/28. Right now, we have 3 non-cons listed for 2028 (Purdue 9/9, at UConn 9/16, and ECU 9/23). I know we're probably looking for a Week 1 FCS but UNLV on 10/7 would fit too.

Another option would be taking Army's home-home with ODU in 2029 and 2030. Those dates are in the first 3 weeks and fit into our current non-con.

Hmmm... Trip to Las Vegas or a trip to Norfolk.

I was thinking both. The ODU series has been fine enough, so let's keep it going.

I guess the ODU nominally gives us a chance to get recruits from the Virginia Beach area out to see a game without coming to Winston. On the other hand if we're going to play random schools from Virginia let's just play random schools from NC

I’d rather play ODU than App, ECU, or UNCC.

I’d be cool with UNLV. Could go with my brother in law who lives out there.

I like playing Army and especially there.

But next year is a little soon, maybe two-threw years from now?
