ban the fucking guns

Ryan is scared shitless of the NRA. He takes their money and does what they tell him to do, just like a whore.

He certainly isn't representing the people of his district. Nationally 90% want universal background checks and nearly the number support "no fly-no buy". So, he isn't doing the job his constituents hired him to do.

He's like any other whore. He's doing what his johns at the NRA pay him to do.

John Lewis was on the no-fly list. The Democrats would have said to him tough luck. Due process is for nitpickers. What is the Constitution between friends?

So fix the problems with the list in the same bill? This isn't rocket science

LOL

A congressional sit-in is a great lesson for our kids. If you don't get your way, pout about it to get attention.

Civil disobedience is one thing. These guys aren't protesting an unjust law; they are the lawmakers. Do your job or GTFO.

Exactly, do your job, pass something 90% of the American people want. Then go home for the 4th. I'm sure their exhausting schedule of not passing laws warrants their entire week off while us private citizens get one or two days

Generally you seem pretty intelligent, especially for a coleopteran insect, but you've completely missed the point of the sit in.

That's what the protest was about.

The public overwhelmingly wants universal background checks and "no fly-no buy". The problem isn't the Dems who sat in. It's the Republicans who refuse to do their jobs.

My the Republicans ARE doing their jobs. They are doing what their bosses at the NRA are telling them to do. After all they do work for the NRA not for the people who elected them.

On the one hand, even if the Democrats get what they want, it will be a vote on a flawed bill that won't pass.

On the other hand, Paul Ryan's plan for yesterday was to publicize his plan to overturn Obamacare, and this is certainly a better story. Plus John Lewis is an American Hero.

I'm sure John Boehner is amused.

He'll be smoking a pack of cigs, playing eighteen and have a few drinks on the golf course today and loving it.

Wait, then maybe Boehner is qualified to be President....

Yeah. Seems like Junebug would be sitting next to them based on his post.

You seem pretty intelligent to, except when you extol the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance.

What, in your view, is the point? In considering your response, recall that democrats had control of congress and the presidency from 2008 - 2010 but did not pass a single gun control measure, when they could have done so from the comfort of their chairs.

FYI, "You seem pretty intelligent to" should be "too".

In my view the all it will achieve is probably grand standing, and raising money to get reelected, just like the senate's fake Filibuster last week. However, the stated point of the sit in protest is to have a debate and a vote on a bill in congress for some sort of gun control, but the Republicans walked out refusing to hold a vote...so you see, tell the House Dems to do their jobs is ironic. You are correct that the Dems controlled congress for two years but that was before Aurora, Newtown, San Bernardino, Orlando, Charleston, etc. Many of us were calling for stricter gun control as far back as the 90's after Colin Ferguson shot 25 people on the Long Island Rail Road (in my home town), but apparently it took quite a bit longer for Congressional Democrats to hear the message. Surely the House Dems know this won't accomplish anything even if they do get a vote on the house floor and so many are joining to protest probably just to get press and benefit their campaigns, but this is same thing as holding 100's of votes to repeal ObamaCare in the last few years or the GOP House Floor sit in over an energy bill in 2008. So, calling out the Dems for not doing their jobs here is a bit of a funny angle to take.
