BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

bummer

here's the tweet:

So it was bad that he took a brief unofficial to Wake after his official to State two weeks before his scheduled official visit.

I don't think anyone here is really surprised by this. Looking forward to seeing him play in the ACC.

Yeah. Not surprised. Not sure why anybody thinks good things are going to happen until we get rid of Manning.

maybe we can go find some low major transfer who averaged four points a game as a junior

We r in real trouble if Manning can not convince a big man who needs coaching to come to Wake over State. This was the one positive he had and he pissed it away this past seaon.

Was signing Hoard a good thing or a bad thing?

Yeah. That happened well before last season's disappointment. People thought we shouldn't fire Manning after this season based on the idea he was going to do something good to justify keeping him.

Per PhDeac, it was bad, because now we might be just good enough to keep Manning around. That is the best case scenario. Or maybe it was the worst case scenario? Either way, PhDeac throws a hell of a party.

Losing out on SKJ is yet another giant red mark on Manning. He would rather take the 13th scholarship to a second year coach that has no history with big men. Meanwhile he would get playing time, big man development, and use of the new Shah basketball facilities that will be nicer than anything at State if he came here. This is another sign that Manning and staff can't recruit at the level they need to. At this point, I doubt we pull in a great 2019 class. Just hope some unicorn coach is available when Manning gets canned in 10 months.

Come on now. You can't really believe this. The nut punch predates predates Manning by several years, and that's when all the bad things started happening.

There's a zero percent chance Manning pulls in a great 2019 recruiting class. He's done.

Tough to get a guy to commit to a coach that may not be here when he's finally eligible to play. It's the main reason the 2019 class is going to be a struggle.

Yeah, if there is any recruit that Manning should have been able to convince to come play for him, it is SKJ. For starters, he recruited him back in the day, so there was already a relationship/familiarity. Secondly, it seems like Manning would be the absolute best coach for him to play for and learn from. Deserved or not, there is no denying that Manning has the rep as one of, if not the best, big man coach in the country; and he can point to Collins (another athletic 6'10" F/C) as a recent success story. Instead, SKJ chooses to play under a coach that just had his pro potential center leave the program because he felt he was being developed properly. Seems like a real dicey choice by SKJ, but an even bigger swing and miss by Manning. Unless there is some behind the scenes story that we just don't know about that made SKJ/Wake unrealistic.
